Ivan Johnson to Play in China

According to Ivan Johnson’s agent, the forward is moving on from the Atlanta Hawks to Zhejiang China. Per the AJC: “Johnson, who played the past two seasons with the Hawks, will play for Zhejiang China next season said agent Jeremiah Haylett. It is the same team Eddie Curry played for last season. Johnson was an unrestricted free agent after the Hawks did not make the forward/center a qualifying offer this offseason. He appeared in 125 games, including five starts, for the Hawks over the past two seasons. He averaged 6.5 points and 3.9 rebounds in 15.8 minutes a game.”

it’s about economics. talent is always there, always has been. there are so many fringe guys all around the world

Attendances and money are the issues, no doubt about talent, Euroleague alone must have close to 50 guys who can play in the NBA, China probably another 15, and so on. Expansion would be cool, but I can’t see it, especially with the current trend of superstars clubbing together, there isn’t enough star players for 32 teams to exist.

I know there’d be an expansion draft etc, but just out of curiosity I started wondering what an All-None-NBA team would look like..
Nenad Krstic, Semih Erden, Ivan Johnson, Sasha Vujacic, Juan Carlos Navarro, Rudy Fernandez, Bo McCalleb, Bobby Brown, Milos Teodosic, Vasilis Spanoulis, Nikola Mirotic, Sonny Weems..Kirk Penney? Obviously I’ve missed a bunch of players too..

    Yeah, don’t think they’d make the playoffs…

I have a feeling Ivan will have a Renaldo Balkman situation on his hands when he gets over there.
