Lamar Odom Reportedly Has a Serious Drug Problem

According to reports on various gossip websites, NBA free agent forward Lamar Odom is battling a hardcore drug addiction, and the 33-year old reportedly hasn’t been seen by his family in days. Per TMZ: “Lamar Odom has been deep into crack cocaine for at least 2 years … Lamar has gone off the rails with drug use which is the principal cause of the crisis in his marriage to Khloe Kardashian … Lamar went to a rehab facility a year ago this month and stayed for 3 weeks before bailing — and we’re told the problem was crack. Sources say Lamar’s crack use was extreme before he went to rehab, but he cleaned up his act during the basketball season that just ended. Sources say shortly after he hung up his jersey, he started again with a bang. [...] Khloe threw Lamar out of the house a few days ago after he rejected an attempt at an intervention.”

    Crack??? 2 years?

I am totally shocked. Let’s hope, that somebody gets through to him, so he starts to fight it.

Hope Lamar can sort out his drug problem (if indeed he has one) as soon as possible.

powder i can see. crack?! i have a hard time seeing that one can be “deep into it” for two years and still be a serviceable nba player. (i know his production plummeted the last two years, but he is still out there playing a role.)

  • pposse

his dad had/has a serious addiction to crack.

  • JibbsIsBallin

Gotta remove the bad people around him. Odom has so much potential in the league.

sad, didn’t know that. still hard to believe a crack addict could last for 2 years in the L while getting high everyday or close to it

  • dookie

Slam is starting to use TMZ as a source waaayyy too much. I think Slam also needs an intervention.

  • pposse

yeah it is real sad. It seems a iittle silly for a basketball player to use crack as a drug of choice

Anyone who’s ever played for the LAL, or been to LA has a drug prob. Yes, I said it

Firstly, I hope someone finds him. Secondly, I hope he gets help for his issue. Sad watching him play the past 2 seasons…nothing like he was as a Laker. Just didn’t look all that interested. His own health and marriage > basketball.

How come nobody knew about this before? Amazing that a professional basketball player who is married to a Kardashian can keep this a secret for so long.

Also I was already wondering why it took Slam so long before writing a story about this. I read this about three days ago on a non basketball related site. Can’t remember which one though…

Lamar Odom has been missing for almost 4 days now guys… :S not even joking..

  • Smits#45

Really? Where did you get this information?

  • RKJ92

It was posted on real gm yesterday he was missing for 3 days, today is now the fourth day and there is still no sign of him at all.. they think he is in hiding doing drugs but I have a bad feeling about this though..

This is sad if its true man. Just knowing what his fam went through with his pops, for him to be using too would just be devestating.

Lamar is well liked by many in the media and around the league. Even after the story was leaked, it still hasnt gotten the coverage you’d expect from something this serious. Certain people just choosing not to cover it, even Clippers beat writers. I didn’t go into detail last month, but did mention his “personal issues” as the reason the Clippers hasn’t resigned him. They knew, they were just trying to help and hoping for the best.

  • LobCity

A lot of they stuff was known and just not covered because people in the media and league love LO. But now that those scumbags at TMZ got ahold of the stories, prepare to hear it all. It’s a shame. I’m not even a fan of LO but I hope he gets this taken care of.

If he really has had a hardcore crack addiction for two years, then there is something seriously flawed with the leagues drug testing program. You really have to have your head in the sand to not notice symptoms of crack cocaine abuse.

  • spit hot fiyah

realgm got it from tmz i believe, so:

  • RKJ92

Hah I get what you did there! but seriously the mans on crack, he has the potential to die at any given moment whether you can take the reporting with a grain of salt, or not!

  • RKJ92

I know this has nothing to do with the article but Tracy McGrady just announced his retirement! :-o

  • Habeeba Husain

    :(

  • TR

    AC Green?

  • berkamore

Not saying it is not serious but at the same time, we might all want to reserve judgment for now as the story is coming from TMZ and the Kardashians, this ain’t exactly Reuters.

  • LakeShow

I seriously feel like crying. This is very sad, if true.

    Heroin.

  • berkamore

Very true. And a crack addict who can go through an NBA season? Don’t know about that.

Seem to remember that Earl “the Goat” Manigault failed at some NBA tryouts because drugs had ravaged his body. Or how Rodman laughed off reports that he was using when he was in the NBA by just saying;” You can’t play at that level for that long if you are using.”

Could be that LO just started using. But I am still reserving judgment as TMZ and the Kardashians as sources are not exactly……well………I’ll leave it at that.

I think this is being blown outta proportion. I believe he’s probably having some issues. He may be popping mollies, smoking weed or sniffing coke, but smoking CRACK??? C’mon son, seems a bit extreme…And to say he cleaned up for a season is ridiculous. Crack would have DEFINITELY shown signs of an addiction…
