Mike Woodson Making JR Smith Take Out His Blonde Hair

New York Knicks head coach Mike Woodson has made it his mission to keep JR Smith in line. Even during the offseason, Woodson makes sure to keep tabs on Smith (and, evidently, his hair.) JR’s dad says the coach is making his son undo the blonde dye job. Per ESPN: “For those interested in JR Smith’s hairstyle, his dad says he is going back to his traditional look, per instructions from Mike Woodson.”

Why does this coach care, its his hair. Reasons like this is why Knicks need a new coach. Worry about 4th quater execution, using timeouts correctly, out of bounds plays, post ups, starting point guard, getting melo to shoot less/rebound, trading amare and creating a team. Mike acting like the grown man’s dad. WOW

This is interesting… Dont know how to feel about this because dude is a grown man so should be able to do what he wants with his hair…. although no grown man should have blonde hair…

That’s not blonde…That’s straight up yellow.

What about white men who are naturally blonde? What are they supposed to do!????? Lol

IMAGE. Same reason they have a dress code in the league. JR needs to have some professionalism, he’s already ended last season on a bad note, he’s gonna start the season injured, but he wants to create ANOTHER distraction for himself…..

LMAO! Truuuuuue, Truuuuuuuue… Okay, no grown man should be dying their hair blonde… Hopefully thats a little better lol

  • Ugh

That a player’s hair colour is a topic of conversation proves just how conservative American sports actually are. It’s 2013, not 1953.

maybe he should try and punch her square on her mouth. That could work.

Hey, the knicks are a business….. Nothing wrong wit a Lil discipline… Shat, I could see if they were winning but they aren’t…. Belicik runs a tight shift in New England, and it works……with the exception of hernandez obviously

He looks like a created player I used to make back in NBA Live 2004. Inked up with blonde ass hair, but man he could ball, “Axel Foley” was his name. : )

The Patriots organization is a bunch of bs ever since they started cheating to win super bowls.

  • Ugh

Can you explain to me how telling a player to change his hair colour is ‘discipline’?

  • Ugh

Why on earth would you have an opinion on what another man does with his hair? Seriously, you need some more hobbies or something.

  • LP @ThisisEther

Sure. Jr dyed his hair. Woodson told JR to change his hair color back. Now, Mike Woodson is an authority figure to JR.  Normally, JR could ignore Woodson,  but JR knows it’s in his best interest to obey his coach. This is discipline.
If you’ve ever played college sports (or will play college sports), there is discipline. Some coaches live by it.  I personally had curfew, couldn’t grow a beard, had a coach that made you cut your braids or dreads, only team shoes… Etc…. Etc…..  I understood it also. U can’t let your team run amuck, and even more importantly (in the knicks situation) , your team CANT have the appearance of running amuck to outside observers.

I didn’t randomly stop a man on the street and comment on his hair. I came to a basketball website that posted a basketball related story and I commented. Hair or not, that’s the beauty of America and Slamonline; I can comment on whatever the f@$* I want!
