Carmelo Anthony Not Planning On Leaving New York

There’s been lots of speculation about where Carmelo Anthony, a free agent at season’s end, will be playing next year and beyond. Apparently, he’s happy right where he is. Per Newsday.com: “Carmelo Anthony can become a free agent after the upcoming season, but he gave the strongest indication yet that his plan is to re-sign with the Knicks. ‘I’m not going nowhere,’ Anthony said during an interview Tuesday with Bloomberg Television’s ‘Market Makers.’ Anthony is due to make $23.3 million in the 2014-15 season. If he were to opt out, the Lakers likely would pursue him, but the Knicks can offer him significantly more. Under the collective bargaining agreement, the most the Lakers could offer is four years and roughly $96 million. Anthony could get a maximum five-year contract worth about $129 million from the Knicks, who can start negotiating with him in February. Money aside, Anthony pushed for the February 2011 trade from Denver to be in the spotlight and try to help the Knicks win their first championship since 1973. He led them to 54 wins last season and their first Atlantic Division title in 19 years, but they lost to Indiana in the second round. Anthony, 29, remains hungry to carry the Knicks to a title. ‘That is one of the reasons why I wanted to come here to New York, just so I could take on those pressures and those challenges,’ Anthony said. ‘A lot of people do not like to deal with the pressure. A lot of people do not know how to deal with the challenges they face. To me, it is everyday life.”’

Got no reason too ..I personally will respect him more for being his own man trying to win it n his prime …plus he wants to beat Bron to get it …nothing but salute from me

If he signs the 5 year max how much would he get when he is 34?

  • spit hot fiyah

it will be hard for him to play road games unless it’s against the nets

Even if he doens’t resign with the Knicks I don’t think it will be good for him to sign with the Lakers. Not for him and not for the Lakers. It’s hard for me to imagine that he and Kobe will be able to gel. Most likely it will result in a lot of drama.

The Shock Exchange wasn’t planning on getting dissed by Pam Grier but … sometimes these things happen.

Him and Kobe would be a tough combo but I don’t see it.

People change their mind overtime, won’t be surprised if he suddenly decides to get out of NY

I’m actually rooting for Melo alot more than LeBron, for as far as they both first got into the NBA. Don’t get me wrong they both are excellent players, and I also think Bron is the better player. Yeah they have both their share of dramas, but actually see Melo os alot more sincere when he left for New York. Lebron’s “Decision” is actually quite pathetic, for he knows (or they, with Wade and Bosh) will e a super team to get an easy way to get a ring. Melo didn’t care who’s in NY and he just want to play where he knows and feels like his home. For him to have a mindset like this to give his home team a championship, I respect. No unlike, leaving or abandoning your “home” team or “kingdom”, while self-proclaiming yourself as “The King” (even has a license plate does says “King of Akron”) to get an easy chip, doesnt really sit well on me. I wish Melo all the best in New York!

I think they would play good together. They played a lot together for the Western All-Stars and Team USA.

Hilarious! Melo speaks with forked tongue.

    PREACH ! Lebron sucks !

So Melo only wanted to go to NY because it feels like home? Nevermind the fact he wanted to make his own “superteam” with Amare and potentially CP3. But nevermind will stick with you’re narrative.

    Happy wife, happy life!

with 5 other (super)stars around them – you cant compare that to nba team basketball. if you want to see how that would play out just go back to the nuggets team with iverson and anthony. two ball hogs just dont work out well.

CPaul will never be a Knick, even if he demanded/requested for it before. Melo didn’t care who was in the Knicks at that time, even if Stat was already there. It would’ve been great, but I didn’t see that happening.
