Sixers Not Rushing Nerlens Noel Back

The 76ers seem like a lock to be among the League’s worst teams this season, so it’s no surprise that they won’t be hurrying rehabbing rookie Nerlens Noel back into action. From Philly.com: “The Sixers are in no rush to get [Noel] on the court. Though Noel is ahead of schedule in his weight-room workouts, Wilk (who has been working with Noel) doubts he will be ready to play before December. ‘Right now, the stuff we are doing is not necessarily on the court,’ Wilk said. ‘He’s got to get used to the court, cutting on the court. Used to playing defense one-on-one. Things of that nature. So it’s probably going to get pushed a little further back, even though he looks like he’s ready.’ For now, his regimen includes strengthening exercises designed to build bulk, agility, and proprioception exercises, and non-muscular training.”

    has anyone been behind schedule?

    Tanking heads up…

    Andrew Bynum

This makes sense since the 76ers don’t have much hope this year. I hope he gets to play sooner than later though. I’d hate to see another scenario like what happened with Greg Oden.

    Tank for Wiggins.

  • Björn Atli

They should nickname him the Tank.

  • Max

I don’t even think he has a schedule.

“Next year’s draft class is how good? Anyone else feel like having an injury that keeps them off the court for a long period of time? And then we’ll push it back even further.” heard around the 76ers head office.

I’m kinda more interested in the draft lottery than the playoffs. Don’t hate

Sixers staff refuse to declare Noel ready until he can pronounce proprioception correctly.

  • theDankerNuggets

of course not, their goal is Wiggins

nah wiggins aint who I’d draft. The young loaeid Julius Randle is a better option.

  • Caboose

    Yeah…no.

not at the NBA level. Randle is a tweener, it’s going to take him longer to find his niche. And Wiggins has the potential to be a game changer on both ends of the court. Randle is not going to be a top notch defender. That everyone is pretty much certain of.

    How about Jabari Parker?

It’s all in the art of how you tank…. I’d get him to take an art class too!!?

  • Nick Holden

If was up to the Sixers front office, they wouldn’t have anyone come back on the court.

  • Mike Gilbert

I wouldn’t worry about it. Noel doesn’t have anywhere near the type of injury Oden had over his years. Unless he isn’t putting in the work in rehab, there’s no reason he shouldn’t come back stronger than before

  • straight cake

Wiggins seems to be more of a game changer IMO.

  • Sancheezie

He has a schedule at the hair salon for a perm
