NBA Investigating JR Smith for Threatening Brandon Jennings on Twitter

The hilarious Twitter war between JR Smith and Brandon Jennings is no laughing matter for the NBA. The League is reportedly investigating the perceived threats from Smith (who, of course, says he meant no harm to Jennings.) Per ESPN and the NY Times: “The NBA is investigating the Twitter feud between New York’s J.R. Smith and Detroit’s Brandon Jennings over the presence of Smith’s brother, Chris, on the Knicks’ roster, sources close to the process said. The teams meet Tuesday in Detroit, but the league office is expected to rule before then whether anything said between the two can be deemed threatening. [...] Speaking before Thursday’s game, J. R. Smith acknowledged he was upset, but he said the situation had gotten blown out of proportion. ‘There’s a way to threaten somebody, and that’s not the way to publicly threaten someone,’ said Smith, who missed the first five games of the season for violating the league’s drug policy. ‘I know Brandon. Brandon’s not that type of person, and I’m not that type of person. We had a pretty good relationship before this.’ The N.B.A. was looking into the matter, and Coach Mike Woodson, who does not have a Twitter account and said he was not into the ‘social media game,’ said he planned to address Smith’s Twitter habits with him. ‘My whole thing with that is, if you’re going to tweet, tweet something positive,’ Woodson said. This is not the first time that Smith has run afoul of social media etiquette. Last season, the league fined him $25,000 for posting an inappropriate photo of a woman on his Twitter account. On Thursday, Smith acknowledged his topsy-turvy relationship with social media. He said he might deactivate his account. ‘I’m always in trouble on Twitter,’ he said. ‘I don’t know what it is. Trying to shake it.’”

Things like this are only a problem if you have a twitter account…take away the probability by eliminating the possibility…no twitter account, no possibility of you doing something stupid and ending up $25k lighter in the pocket. (geesh…I made that much a YEAR in my 1st gig out of college for goodness sake!)

leave them alone, the shots were weak any way, and less than 40% landed. which is not surprising since it was jr smith and brandon jennings.

As Salamu Alaykum sister, interesting how documentation on twitter feed is like the angels writing down every deed.

These guys need to realize the NBA is probably watching the Incognito/Martin NFL fiasco very closely. ANYthing that might be perceived as threatening, racist or bullying is going to be investigated. Wake up fellas, keep it clean, and lay low for a while.
