New York Knicks Banned Super-Fan Woody Allen from VIP Lounge

As New York’s season continues to spiral down the drain, it’s not just the team’s cheerleaders who have felt the wrath of the front-office. Long time (and über-famous) Knicks fans are reportedly also getting the cold shoulder. Per the NY Post‘s Page Six: “Woody Allen is a huge Knicks supporter, but he’s no fan of the team’s owner, James Dolan. Sources say Dolan had the Oscar-winning director banned from Suite 200, the VIP lounge at Madison Square Garden, after Allen refused to do any promotion for MSG Network or the Garden of Dreams Foundation. Allen had been a regular for years in the suite, where models, pop stars and pro athletes gather before games and at halftime for free drinks and food. ‘He got a call from someone at MSG saying they had bought the rights to air several of Woody’s movies on the MSG channel and wanted Woody to go on the air and talk about his movies or introduce them,’ a Woody source told me. ‘Woody said he would not be comfortable doing that. He has never done that for any show or network. They then said that this was a ‘reciprocal arrangement’ and that if Woody couldn’t go on TV for them, he should not eat in their VIP restaurant anymore. Woody said fine and thanked them for the many years he had enjoyed the space there.’ A Garden spokesman politely declined to comment but pointed out that Allen — unlike Spike Lee (who has worked on documentaries about the team) and Matthew Modine — has never done anything to help the team or Dolan’s youth charity, Garden of Dreams (of which Modine is a board member).”

Never like Woody Allen. Seems like a pretentious prick.

I’m sure Woody Allen is devastated, that he can’t eat any more free food at the Garden. Another classy move by Dolan.

Pretentious or not, this cat’s been supporting the Knicks longer than many of us have been alive. He wrote an essay on Earl Monroe in the early 70′s for chrissakes. And like the article says, Allen doesn’t do ANY type of interviews or promo for his movies, for anyone, not just for the MSG channel.

Seems like Dolan is the one being a douche here.

He is a fan, not an employe. He has been a fan for over 30 years and now you alienate him because he just doesn’t want to do what you want him to.

Everytime I hear about or see Woody Allen this plays in my head:

“You can laugh and criticize Michael Jackson if you wanna
Woody Allen, molested and married his step-daughter
Same press kickin dirt on Michael’s name
Show Woody and Soon-Yi at the playoff game, holdin hands
Sit back and just bug, think about that
Would he get that type of dap if his name was Woody Black?”

Pretty much a perfect album man, I don’t know how else to describe it.

couldn’t be described any other way. It had everything, love, poetry, introspection, social commentary, straight bars….the perfect hip hop album. imo the greatest album of all time.

I am no Woody Allen fan but does stupid Dolan think this is a good time to piss off his fan base. He is the problem with my Knicks. He is in their heads. I wish he would join his band full time and leave running the team to the gm

James Trust Fund Dolan, the worst sports owner this side of Jerry Jones.
