Roy Hibbert Says Paul George Can Surpass Reggie Miller’s Pacers Legacy

Having led the Indiana Pacers to 7-0, the best start in franchise history, Paul George is putting together very fine season. Looking further down the road, Roy Hibbert — who calls his teammate the MVP favorite – thinks George’s career in Indy will someday be considered better than that of Pacers legend Reggie Miller. Per SI: “Last June, George sat on the Pacers bench steaming, the full effects of a 99-76 loss to Miami in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals washing over him. George hated losing, but he hated how Indiana lost most of all. ‘I was tired,’ George said. ‘I didn’t have the energy, I wasn’t able to push through. I didn’t want that feeling again.’ In the locker room after the game, George’s voice pierced the silence. Be happy with what we accomplished, George said. But don’t be satisfied. ‘I wanted them to come back with the mindset that we do have something special here,’ George said. ‘I really wanted us to work.’ [...] Four days per week, George ran through the steep Southern California hills, the memory of Game 7 pushing him an extra day, an extra mile. He honed his ball handling and diversified his offensive repertoire. After shooting 41.9 percent last season, George is up to 46.7 percent this season. After being named the NBA’s Most Improved Player, George has the look of an MVP candidate. ‘He’s one of the most complete players in the game,’ head coach Frank Vogel said. Added Roy Hibbert, ‘Reggie [Miller] is the man in terms of Pacers legacy. I can see [George] surpassing him. He won’t say it, but I will. He’s aspiring to be great.’”

The Shock Exchange says he can date Pam Grier … but … uh … whatever. Don’t judge him.

  • VictorDeLaWood

He’s young and has a bright future. If he can help bring a chip to that franchise, he just might get the edge over Reggie.

  • pposse

whatever Hibbert see you on Saturday punk!

  • Sizzle

Tomorrow’s headline. Roy Hibbert believes Paul George can help resolve U.S./Middle East tensions. Relax Roy. We know PG is good.

  • shockexchange

    Ha ha!

  • Shooting Guard

Players get crowned so easily these days. MCW was crowned ROY after 3 games

  • spit hot fiyah

win a ring and it might be a done deal

  • spit hot fiyah

i believe it was after one game

  • BOBO

PG good but let him do something in the league before you make comments like this

  • Dfrance

He might beat Reggie out numbers wise, but it’ll be tough to top some of Reggie’s legendary moments.

    K, stop talking…

  • LakeShow

    lol, right? enough fellas..

  • Youngindy21

Most likely true but chill Roy. I can see Andrew Luck surpassing Peyton Manning but in Indy we will never forget Manning and Miller.

While I am curious if the Pacers can sustain the level they are currently playing at for the entire season, I am even more curious if they will continue to talk themselves up for all 82 games. It seems like every day we get some new insight into how someone from that roster is winning an award and a title.

While I love the confidence, maybe they should just focus on finishing the season first, then reflecting on it.

See what I was saying? Way too much talking coming from them and it’s annoying.

  • LakeShow

  • Toni Benz

they are focus, there’s nothing wrong in giving each other moral support and boosting their confidence, they are winning anyways

  • Toni Benz

he never said to forget the old legends

  • Toni Benz

It’s alright to give each other the confidence, boost the morale, get a lot of encouragement from each other. They are backing up their words with actions

  • Toni Benz

    did reggie get a ring?

  • Shooting Guard

I noticed you responded to almost everyone’s comment, you probably have a huge poster of PG in your room huh?

  • Toni Benz

coz i noticed you guys are so nega, when there’s no big deal on that.

  • Toni Benz

it doesn’t hurt anyone when you give morale support and boost confidence of someone not unless you are hater and you take things negatively all the time

  • Maralan

    Yeaaaaaa let’s go with that…

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Did I say it wasn’t ok? I’m perfectly ok with them boosting each other but do it in private. Like I’ve said on other threads I just don’t like the public announcements about it but eh that’s just me.

  • LakeShow

    K start commenting too

  • LakeShow

lol, love these randoms that show up and talk sh*t and never show up again.

What satisfaction do you get from this exactly? lol….

  • LakeShow

If you were actually on this website often, you would know that I am a fan of what the Pacers have done and are doing. I am rooting for them this year.

    Check yourself.

    Enough talking.

You hear the Heat saying “we’re going to stop everyone again this year and Bron is going to get MVP again!” ?

No because they know who they are, and that’s winners. Pacers need to realize they don’t need to talk. Their talk is their walk.

  • Shooting Guard

I’m sure we’re all fans of this beautiful game, if you’re analyzing things from an emotional point of view, that’s your choice, I got no problem with it. But if you examine my initial comment you’ll notice it makes alot of sense.
