LA Clippers Reportedly Interested in Stephen Jackson

Cap’n Jack may soon be back in the NBA. Due to a rash of injuries to wing players, the LA Clippers are reportedly showing interest in Stephen Jackson. Per ESPN: “The Los Angeles Clippers are strongly considering the signing of former San Antonio Spurs swingman Stephen Jackson to fill their growing need on the wing, according to sources familiar with the team’s thinking. Sources said that Jackson, who has been searching for a new team since his sudden release by the Spurs shortly before last season’s playoffs in April, has emerged as a prime candidate for the Clippers to sign as early as this week after a series of injuries have decimated L.A.’s depth. Injuries suffered by starting guard J.J. Redick, top reserve Matt Barnes and rookie forward Reggie Bullock prompted Clippers coach Doc Rivers to announce after Saturday’s loss in Cleveland that the Clippers essentially ‘have to look somewhere’ for reinforcements. ‘If you guys have any names, call me and let me know,’ Rivers told reporters. ‘I’ll be on the phone tonight with [Clippers executives] Gary [Sacks] and Gerald [Madkins] and Dave Wohl and I’m praying they know somebody. We’ll see. You never know.’ Former Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns guard Shannon Brown has also been mentioned as a potential target, but Jackson has the sort of size, 3-point shooting range and playoff résumé that could well appeal to Rivers as the Clippers search to fill the void. It was not immediately known how the prospect of a signing this week, if it indeed comes to fruition, would impact the Clippers’ well-chronicled interest in re-signing veteran forward Lamar Odom.”

    Good move.

  • RyanDeahn

Yes! He can now stop choking out former NBA players in the club now.

I like this move if it happens, Jack should now his days as nummer one or two option are long gone. But he should be out to prove he is not finished

The Clippers tryna to bring in some toughness. That way, they can stop acting tough on Twitter http://clicky.me/7l3b

    Nonbasketball related

  • jmm

Knicks needs Jack. We have the monopoly on NBA crazy this year, no way we can let Clips get an asset like this. Come party with Kenyon, JR & Ron-Ron, Captain Jack!

  • JML-G

SJax definitely still can play, would be a nice addition to Clippers bench together with Odom

  • SwissArmyKnife5

Man if they sign Jack, and Odom (if he’s has his mind right) Clippers might make a serious run at the finals.

The “Source” here is probably Stax’s agent.

Now I see why his career went in the wrong direction! According to feng shui, you should always place your shoes in the same direction!!

  • Caboose

Really, you’re gonna complain about something here being non-basketball related?

When it comes to invading the privacy of a fellow human being. Basketball players only have fans while they work. There private life is off the job.

How would you like your CEO to know your fighting in the club even though your professionally a great emoter do your work on time and efficient

  • Caboose

    I don’t do sh!t like that…

And let’s get this straight, an NBA player is a completely different kind of job than an office worker.

Why why are athletes different. Are they morally superior? Are they intellectually superior?

How is the nba any different than a circus? It’s entertainment that’s it.

Just like you enjoying taking pictures with lions after the show. Same way when you catch Darius miles outside at the mall

Why isn’t shannon brown in the league. I know he got flipped to and released by the wizards. I’s he recovering from an injury?

  • TTN

No sir, not even close, Jack is tough and has been a productive ball player but the Clippers are going to need much more to come out of the West.

  • TTN

I read somewhere the Heat maybe looking to add him or another 2 guard due to Wade missing games. He should be playing on team I felt he got done dirty by LA when his time came to get paid.

They’re celebrities… it’s in their job description. I can’t believe this has to be explained to you.

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

Where is this written in their job description.

Plus you know there are different types of celebrities how can you equate a Reality TV show star to an NBA player celebrity.

  • VictorDeLaWood

Cus they’re both watched and regognized by a huge audience, NBA players more so than reality tv stars. And it is in their job description, seeing as how their actions reflect on the team they play for and the league (hence fines and penalties for certain off the court actions). I really can’t believe Im explaining celebrity to what I assume is a grown man.

  • pposse

was he ever a number 1 or 2 option?

  • pposse

gms/owners whoever probably do interview potential players they are in informing them of some of the issues you have. I woudln’t be surprised if there is some verbage in their contracts that state their personal lives has apotential to get exploited.

  • spit hot fiyah

supposedly he said he is done with pro basketball

  • SwissArmyKnife5

Why not? If Jackson can still play….(2011-2012)his last major run with the Spurs during the playoffs(53%fg 8.3ppg) he made 26-43 triples(60.5% 93.3%ft). If Odom is signed (and has his act together) he’s the missing low post defender/playmake they need. Odom is still good for 6-10ppg 6-10rpg 2-4apg depending on mins. They have CP3, Redick, Dudley, Griffin, Jordan, Collison, Crawford, Barnes, Jackson, Jamison, Mullens, Hollis, Green, Bullock…and if they pick up Odom that’s not a title contender, how aren’t they? They’re contenders without them. By the way I root for the Knicks, so I’m not a bandwagon guy, I know talent when I see it, plus with Doc rivers they have a chance. Only thing is they need to cut a player to sign Odom, if I’m them I cut either Hollins or Mullens.
