Post Up: Run DMC

DeMarcus Cousins went off on Monday night.

by Leo Sepkowitz | @LSepkowitzSLAM

There were only six games last night, but there were some major performances from the likes of Steph Curry, Chris Paul and a trio of Kings.

Mavericks 97, Kings 112

No Patrick Patterson, John Salmons, Greivis Vasquez, Chuck Hayes, Rudy Gay, Aaron Gray or Quincy Acy, no problem last night for Sacto. The Kings got an easy win despite playing shorthanded (my guy Hamady Ndaiye even made a cameo appearance!)

DeMarcus Cousins was unstoppable in his 36 minutes, and finished with 32 points and 19 rebounds. He made 12/14 free throws and added 3 steals and a block. Derrick Williams finally showed real signs of life, scoring 31 points on 12/16 shooting. I think we’re all rooting for him to keep his game at that level or something near it going forward. Isaiah Thomas saw 38 minutes without Greivis around, and finished with 24 points (4 threes) and 12 dimes.

Dallas has struggled on the road, where they’re now 4-7 on the year. Dirk Nowitzki finished with 18 points (7/15), 7 assists and 6 boards, and Monta Ellis scored 21, but nobody else showed up. Vince Carter, Shawn Marion and Jose Calderon shot a combined 10/30 on the night.

Warriors 111, Bobcats 115

Hard to believe 43 from Steph Curry wouldn’t be enough against the Bobcats, but Charlotte played a solid game on Monday night. Kemba Walker and Gerald Henderson led the team with 31 and 24, respectively, and and Josh McRoberts double-doubled with 11 and 10. Al Jefferson, Ramon Sessions and Ben Gordon each scored at least 11, too.

Curry hit 5 treys in the loss, and Klay Thompson tacked on 22 points of his own. David Lee (14 and 16), Andrew Bogut (8 and 12) and Harrison Barnes (14 and 9) were all solid, but it’s tough to score more than 115 points on the road.

Clippers 94, Sixers 83

This game pretty much unfolded the way you’d expect it to, though Philly deserves credit for hanging in there without Michael Carter-Williams.

Chris Paul (25 and 13) double-doubled yet again, and DeAndre Jordan grabbed a massive 21 boards. Blake Griffin went for 26 and 8.

Evan Turner led the Sixers in scoring with 25. Thaddeus Young posted 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Nuggets 75, Wizards 74

Neither of these teams created much separation all night. A Kenneth Faried bucket with 32 seconds left proved to be the game-winner for Denver as, fittingly, there were no points scored in the final half-minute.

Wilson Chandler led Denver with 17 points in the low-scoring affair. Nate Robinson added 16 off the bench in 28 minutes. Amazingly, those were the only two players in double-figures for the Nuggets.

The Wiz got 12 or more from four guys, including a game-high 20 from John Wall. Trevor Booker started in place of Nene and finished with 12 and 12.

Magic 85, Grizzlies 94

Orlando is now just 1-10 on the road, and never really got going last night. All five starters scored in double-figures, but the team shot 40 percent overall (6/22 from deep) and got out-rebounded 52-35. Andrew Nicholson was the bright spot with 19 (8/12) and 11 while starting and seeing 37 minutes.

Memphis’ high-man was Zach Randolph, with 19. Z-Bo added 12 boards and hit 5/6 from the stripe. Jon Leuer added 16, and has developed into a solid option off the bench for Memphis this season. Mike Conley scored 13 points with 7 assists.

Blazers 105, Jazz 94

Portland simply took care of business last night. LaMarcus Aldridge led the charge with 24 points, while Damian Lillard, Wes Matthews and Robin Lopez (11 boards) all scored at least 15 points. Nic Batum had a quiet shooting night—3/5—but grabbed 8 boards and handed out 11 dimes.

Utah got some nice contributions (20 from Alec Burks, 19 from Enes Kanter, 17 from Gordon Hayward, 15-6-5 from Trey Burke), but still fell short. The Jazz were simply beat by a better team.

Bonus: Vintage Show Of The Day

This season, I’ll be posting a semi-random highlight video of a former baller at the bottom of my Post Ups. Today, Kevin Johnson’s ’94 posterization of Hakeem Olajuwon gets the spotlight.

Good to see Isaiah Thomas starting. Now we’ll see how great he is.

  • i_ball

The Wizards missed so many chances to win in the end. Still John Wall is playing well. If Beal plays as good as before the injury when he comes back, the Wizards may even get to top 4 in the East.

Utah will win the tank race. Their record against the West is and will remain dreadful. I don’t see them winning 20 games.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Leo you are on fire with the throwback videos. Vintage Show of the Day is beginning to be my favorite part of TPU

  • MUBWAR

Isaiah can ball. 18 & 5 off the bench is solid

  • Leo Sepkowitz

    That’s the idea! Appreciate it.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

anyone can comment on this, but i would like at least pposse’s opinion, in relation to our Russell Westbrook conversation yesterday – still want to argue he’s making a case as best PG in the league?

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&p2=westbru01&y2=2014&p3=walljo01&y3=2014

Demarcus Cousins has to be my favorite big to watch in the league. Sure he has some work to do he’s still young but when he’s on he’s unstoppable. He’s too big to move off the block yet quick enough to beat you with the face up.

  • spit hot fiyah

was that otto porter’s first game? if it wasn’t for that one rebound he would have had a 7 trillion!

  • spit hot fiyah

surprisingly high 3pt % for wall. and westbrook’s assists have really fallen of

  • i_ball

You have to take into account that Westbrook is coming of an injury. I don’t think he is the best PG or even close to that but of Westbrook and Wall change teams OKC will be weaker imo.

I’m not sure hot to judge the TOs since I haven’t watched that many games. Is the Thunder’s offense prone to turnovers or is it just on Durant and Westbrook?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Westbrook is 100% healthy. And i agree, i’m not saying Wall is as good as Westbrook, but perception is a huge part of the problem. Westbrook plays with Durant, on a really great team. Wall plays by himself, on a really mediocre team.
    .
One guy is viewed as underrated, the other overrated, and neither is really doing more than the other.

  • AlbertBarr

Um, so the Kings happened last night. All of a sudden our team, while still potentially bad, seems like it got much more exciting. Our starting lineup could be IT, maclemore, rudy gay, derrick williams and D-Cuz. That is the most athletic lineup we have ever had. Have you seen those fading jumpers IT takes? He is almost laying down mid-air when he releases.

  • AlbertBarr

    D-Cuz is a beast.

  • i_ball

Strange – Westbrook has a higher usage rate than Wall…

Anyway they have the same contract and are performing at the same level, more or less. It’s not like either of them is playing bad.
I really think Wall is going to justify his contract if he stays healthy.

As for the top PG debate the ranking imo is:
    1. Paul
    2. Curry (His stats on offense are just WOW)
    3. Parker (Spurs fan)
    4. Westbrook
    5. Wall
    6. Lillard

Kyrie is having a pretty bad season.

EDIT: But 3,4 and 5 are really 3a, 3b and 3c. Portland is doing great but Lillard is not playing that well.

EDIT2: Actually I take what I said about Lillard back. He is in that group. It seems I started to hate on Portland players because of NSL…

  • Saleem Rainman

tho westbrook started the year pretty off ,so the season stats are a bit skewed (even tho he is healthy NOW, he wasnt to start the year, did u see the amount of turnovers he was getting and his shooting percentages early on?) There are more to it than just stats, there are certain elements u cant teach a player, Im having trouble finding the right word atm, ive used it before. Intangibles, would be the closest i can get. Certain guys have it, and have an huge affect on their teams ability to win a game, Wall i dont feel has got that. For example you look at the last game against denver (which was ugly btw), and noone scored in the last 32 seconds after faried gave the nuggets a one point lead. Leaders lead at that point, and get teams a much needed basket, scored or assisted. and that has never been John wall. Its not all about the stats,

And the whole Wall plays by himself thing was an excuse only in the past, he’s got himself a squad this year. We all said so before the year started, it was time to put up or shut up, cuz he actually HAD a squad this time. And even more so since getting Gortat for Okafor since then.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Beal looked really good for the first 2 weeks, but since has been a bit meh, the rest of the team has been very mediocre. I don’t mean wall is the only decent player, but he is the only consistently good to very good one.

  • i_ball

Wall tried to lead in the last seconds – he missed a lay up, passed the ball to Ariza in the corner who had a good look and after that got stripped by Nate. He takes responsibility and tries to carry the team. You can’t make every shot down the stretch.

Wall has a squad that at best was supposed to be 6th in the East on paper. I think the Wizards will get there specially with NY and BK struggling to get going.

  • Saleem Rainman

He hasnt even been consistent, he was crap to start the year, and so was the team, he’s picked it up since then, but we’ll see if he cna keep it up, jury is still out. The dude is still only shooting 41%, and cant really make a jump shot, whereas Westbrook, when healthy, is ELITE at the mid range. That 41 % u see from Russel is not the norm at all, but 41% for Wall is. Also a bit more credit to Gortat is necessary, he’s been pretty consistent from waht i’ve seen. They got what they traded for there.

  • Saleem Rainman

Yeah i know he tries, that doesnt mean he’s been very good at it. ever.

  • i_ball

Wall is 2 years younger. I bet you were saying the same things about Westbrook two years ago. Wall is playing well right now. He can still improve of course but you have to give him credit for what he’s done so far

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Westbrook shot 43% last season….41% is not that much different. And even if you want to just go off of Westbrook’s last 11 games, http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/westbru01/gamelog/2014/#400-410-sum:pgl_basic – he’s been marginally better. The big difference really coming from the differing situations each guy is in.

  • i_ball

So who would you say is having a better season? I would still say Westbrook simply because he is on a contender…

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    That is exactly my point.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

yeah, Irving is having a below average season. A lot of disgruntled stuff going on in that locker room. And a total malcontent in Dion Waiters is not making turning the season around any easier. That guy needs to get traded ASAP.

  • pposse

tbh i wasn’t considering the John Walls and Tony Parkers, but John Wall is playing better than he ever has this season and should be easily considered in a top 4-5 pg debate. He definately has comparable if not better stats then RW, but the difference for me is the Thunders w/l record. I’ve always said that its harder to put up numbers and live up to expectations on good teams (this was my argument for Rose’s MVP over DH if you remember) Walls responsibilities are greater on his team but they are playing average bball in a weak eastern conf. Once they get more W’s Wall will be in the discussion for sure.

  • LakeShow

IT is my guy. Always loved him since his high school days up in Tacoma.

While you and I both were diggin’ on his bench production he appears to be poised for the starting role.

So much for IT not being able to distribute like someone was saying the other day. He can do that just fine. And his step back fade away is one of my favorite shots in the L.

    **McLemore btw, not this guy…

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

by better stats you just mean totals right? as in, it’s easier to put up bulk numbers on worse teams because you have more responsibility? because when it comes to an overall stat line, figuring in efficiency and the like, having better teammates is more than proven to improve a player’s overall output.

  • LakeShow

  • AlbertBarr
  • pposse

correct. IF RW was on an inferior team no one would be talking about him as best anything he would be another Marbury and probably have a higher fan base cause his forced action would be exciting for fans and haters alike. But he is not and he plays his role on his team well. I would be more impressed with John Wall who is the key to his team if he can put up even better numbers than he has or if his team was winning more.

There are also guys like Lebron and probably KD who would be super efficient at what they do wherever they are but those guys are all time greats. A guy like Lebron has reachd his full potential and its not that much different than how he was playing in Cleveland only major difference is his increased fg%

  • AlbertBarr

    Is that Slamson?

  • Nathan Shane Long

here we go people Monday night thoughts

    1. After having the best game of his young NBA career and scoring a career high 31 points how many you MONKEYS still think that Rudy Gay will start over Derrick Williams let be real here people the kings starting lineup will remain as such

    PG.THOMAS
    SG.MCLEMORE
    SF.WILLIAMS
    PF.THOMPSON
    C.COUSINS
it would benefit Rudy Gay to in essence to replace Thomas as the the Kings 6th man and come off the bench to salvage his declining NBA career

    2. I know Cousins had a monster game and he is the “franchise” player But yet little Isaiah Thomas has been the Kings best player all season his strong play off the bench ran Vasquez out of town and it was clear last night he was the best player on the floor

    3. Kemba Walker outplayed Stephen Curry

    4. Stephen Curry with the worst 43 point game i have ever seen the first half he did nothing and then the second half he went into FTW MODE in his hometown and started chucking up 3′s and forgot about his teammates so selfish

5.Jan Vesley played 20 minutes last night how is that EURO-BUST still in the league

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Rudy Gay will start over Jason Thompson. This has been announced by the Kings. Both players will start.

  • Nathan Shane Long

I know as soon as i post let the “downvotes” begin

  • Nathan Shane Long

    By who?

  • AlbertBarr

IDK. At best IT and Cousins are tied for best player on kings this season. Cousins can just go to work down low when nothing else is working. IT can make bad decisions when the defense tightens up. I am just glad they are both playing to their potential and making the Kings future look fresh!

  • Saleem Rainman

tbh no i wasnt, cuz 2 years ago Westbrook was an elite starting pg on an nba finals team, and the year before that on a WC finals team. A multiple time all star. Wall is yet to deserve to make the team once, this year he’ll probably finally make it, Well, no, thats a definite rather than a probable cuz of no rose and rondo, and dion waiters poluting the cavs locker room, i.e irving. But i definitely give respect where its due, as i did above, dude has been playing well after that slow start to the season.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

“The Kings plan to use new acquisition Rudy Gay as a stretch power forward and use him interchangably with Derrick Williams to defend either forward, Yahoo! Sports reports”. – http://www.fantasysp.com/player/nba/Rudy_Gay/3220493/kings-to-use-rudy-gay-as-stretch-power-forward

  • Saleem Rainman
  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i don’t see any reason to believe he would “beyond explode” —- what is he significantly better than Wall at? anything?

  • Saleem Rainman

I was editing above post, but u replied before i sent it so ill just make it another comment:

and that makes another point, Westbrook is consistently competing with and often outplaying GOOD pg’s in the west, and good teams in the west, whereas Wall doesnt really get that competition in the incredibly weak east, and still has a team playing under .500 basketball. in the EAST.

Wall is GOOD. but he IS kinda overrated, especially the way everyone has been trying to crown him as next in line EVERY year so far. I’m kinda sick of it tbh.

also why would westbrook not? if Harden could go off and get 27 ppg as a top option on a western conference squad, why would Westbrook not be able to do even more damage in the east?

Also, shooting. Westbrook is a lot better at it. I know, the stats say 44% isnt that great, but if u watch him u know when he gets that mid range shot off, its reliable. Unliek Wall who for whatever reason still hasnt shown a consistent jumper.Westbrook was close to 46% the year before. 45% shooting for Wall, if u ask any wiz fan, would be like an early christmas present. They are comparable, in terms of palying style, both are good defenders, but give me russell anyday.

  • LakeShow

Thomas, Ben McLemore, Gay, Derrick Williams, and DeMarcus Cousins is an awesome line up for pure excitement.

Man will they will be absolutely AWFUL defensively though.

I actually would like to see Jason Thompson start at the 4 with Gay at the 3, and with Derrick Williams coming off the bench to fill in at both the 3/4 spot.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

because he would have the full attention of defenses. He’s not James Harden, he’s not a threat to drop 40 on you every game, you don’t have to guard him all over the court like Harden because he is not nearly the threat Harden is as a shooter and he isn’t as patient as Harden is picking his spots. Harden while imo an inferior player, his skillset is much better suited to be a teams 1st option than Westbrook.

And Westbrook doesn’t have nearly the “point guard skills” that Wall has, in terms of distributing and dictating pace (on purpose). Westbrook is still a very very raw player, he’s great, overwhelmingly athletic, but he’s got major limitations. And playing in the situation he is currently, imo, is by far the best possible position he could be in as a player. No other team has a system that could use his deficiencies to their benefit like the Thunder can with the supporting cast around him. So i am extremely hesitant to say i would expect anything more from him on a different team, aside from increased scoring totals, coupled with decreased efficiency.

  • AlbertBarr

Yeah the bench without IT is nothing to look forward to:
    PG: Ray McCallum/Jimmer?
    SG: Thorton/Jimmer?
    SF: Travis Outlaw/Acy?
    PF: Thompson (eventually Carl Landry)
    C: Aaron Gray/N’Diaye

No defense unless Acy or Gray Bring it and most are struggling on offense this season.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Thompson is just so meh, and they have to find a way to turn Gay back into an effective offensive player. Matching him up with opposing 4′s seems like the best way to create mismatches while also creating logical confidence in the responsibilities Gay will assume offensively.

  • Nathan Shane Long

It would be best if Rudy Gay would just chuck up shots and be a “BRICKLAYER” coming off the bench

  • Saleem Rainman

I agree in terms of “point guard skills” in terms of passing, wall is a better passer, whats he at this year? 9 assists a game? But he’s also raw in terms of that aspect as well, cuz he often just plays at one speed. I actually dont think he’s all that great yet at dictating pace, often times he’s the only one running down the floor while his teammates are behind him, and he runs into a wall (no pun intended) of defenders, also an aspect Westbrook has been working on as well, but Westbrook is a much better finisher still.

Also, have u taken into consideration the leadership aspect? Part of the reason why OKC is so good is cuz at times in the playoffs Westbrook has single handedly won them a game, in the 4th, with big plays down the stretch.(yh yh i know, sometimes he shoots it too much when uve got the best scorer in the game as a teammate, but last year when russ was out, u saw what he meant to the team) I’ve yet to see Wall really get to that level yet, as a leader, with that intangible ability. Again, refer to last nights game against denver, I dont think you’ll be able to convince me that Russ would not have done a better job down the stretch. Dude is a killer. And thats in the season, wall has yet to make the playoffs at all.

  • Nathan Shane Long

if it ain’t NBA.COM OR ESPN.COM don’t believe it i don’t care what Sacramento is envisioning according to SI.COM bust ass Jason Thompson ain’t going to the bench

  • Caboose

    Dear SLAM,

I see there has still not been any action taken against commenter Nathan Shane Long. As mentioned, I would address this issue until some form of communication by the SLAM staff is taken.

With this in mind, I shall offer further examples of rule violations that demonstrate a pattern of unacceptable behavior.

“LOL at the retards that up voted your juvenile comment,” an address to several different commenters.

“I know as soon as I post let the downvotes begin,” an obvious troll statement, inciting other commenters to flame.

Now, here is the most egregious infraction, and reflects EXCEPTIONALLY POORLY on you, SLAM.

“And P.S you can dislike, downvote, hate me all you want but yet you just can ignore me you just have to notice me and you can’t help but to respond to me you see me i got what i like to call that Rich Homie Quan affect because my comments make all these troll ass little BIT*HES FEEL SOME “TYPE OF WAY”

He is taunting you, SLAM. He is challenging your ability to control your own commenting boards. And you know what? He’s starting to make me question SLAM as well.

If I am speaking on any other SLAM commenter’s behalf, please let me know below.

To SLAM, I can only hope I can stop writing these every day soon.

    -Caboose

  • Caboose

F*ck you. What would it take to convince you of something?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

You do realize Yahoo is usually the best source for NBA news right? Adrian Wojacantspellitski has close relationships with most front offices. Don’t believe me and the countless reports if you don’t want. It’s not like being wrong really matters to you.

  • Caboose

So who was saying that Isaiah Thomas couldn’t lead the Kings and was a bad distributor?

  • LakeShow

    Nah.

Rudy Gay is 27 years old. Just entering what’s suppose to be his prime. Obviously Toronto was not a good place for him, but he’s a career 18ppg scorer on 45% fg’s.

He’s always started. He’s shown flashes of All-Star, so no, you don’t want to send him to the bench.

He is the best small forward on the team by quite a margin.

  • DeMacksBack

I will be the first to congratulate you on your daily post, even though you did refer to some people as “monkeys”, but you had some valid points. I just wish you would back up your daily post with some stats, instead of opinion. Even though I have to respect your opinion. Also I never down-vote anyone, because it can breed a lot of hate, as everyone is a witness to this in the past couple weeks lol.
1.) I don’t think that lineup will stay the same and they have announced that Rudy will start, but I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Gay come off the bench. I think he could lead the second unit, while the starters can keep displaying that exciting ball from last night. Also it may be awhile before Williams scores that many points again, not a consistent player.
2.) I can see where you are coming from, but Cousins is just an animal when he actually plays. Cousins avgs= 31mpg, 23ppg, 49fg%, 10rpg, 3ast, 1blk, 2stls, 26PER
    Thomas avgs= 28mpg, 18ppg, 46fg%, 43-3fg%, 2rpg, 5ast, 3tov, 1stl, 24PER. I would have to say Cousins has been the Kings best player.
3.) I can agree with you here.
4.) I think you have to give those Bobcats some credit here. They hold a defensive rating of 98, which is actually better than Chicago’s defense lol.

  • LakeShow

I like Gay at the 4.

I just know defensively this is not going to be pretty. I guess having Thompson start doesn’t change that too much though.

It is the best way to maximize their offensive effectiveness though, absolutely.

  • Nathan Shane Long

His career is on a downward spiral he will never become an all-star and his jumper which was at one time he best weapon is terrible now he is a horrible and now him shooting in a new gym won’t help his poor shooting

  • Caboose

2nd game. He had a turnover, foul, and missed shot in the first 30 seconds of his career.

  • Caboose

I’d rather have Derrick at the 4 over Gay….

  • Nathan Shane Long

Derrick failed at the 4 dumbass

  • Caboose

Ok, let’s let the guy who’s never played the 4 play it over the guy who actually has. You’re such a moron. Why do you even stick around?

  • Nathan Shane Long

Rudy Gay can just come off the bench and chuck up shots and be the “BRICKLAYER” HE WAS IN TORONTO

  • Caboose

    He “can.”

LeBron “can” come off the bench too and get 6th man and MVP. But he won’t.

  • LakeShow

I honestly don’t think it matters.

It will be the old question of who’s running the point guard in PHX. Dragic or Bledsoe… Both/Neither

I think Gay is the slightly better rebounder, but Williams is slightly better at covering a 4 defensively.

Gay is the better player offensively at both positions but can guard the 3 better than the 4.

They are interchangeable as forwards from what I can tell neither will be officially running the PF or SF it will be more by committee it appears. With Thompson being the only “true PF” playing the position.

    IMO

  • Caboose

That’s fair, kinda like Hedo and Shard in Orlando a couple years back, they just both played “forward.” Sac’s offense is so flowing anyways, I doubt it’ll really matter.

  • LakeShow

Derrick has failed PERIOD. He has played poorly at both positions.

Why don’t you look up his stats as a SF and as a PF then get back to me.

  • Nathan Shane Long

Derrick failed playing “power forward” in Minnesota he is proving contrary to people belief about him that he is a NBA small forward while Gay has been a “3″ his whole career and Williams has more potential than Gay who never lived up to his

  • LakeShow

    Exactly.

  • Caboose

Derrick failed at both spots. Pull up his stats at SF vs PF, maybe it’ll be enlightening. Or not. You idiot.

  • Nathan Shane Long

Dumbass Rudy has never been a COMBO FORWARD IN HIS CAREER

  • LakeShow

Just said that above. He doesn’t care about facts though…

  • Nathan Shane Long

It proves that Minnesota did not know how to use him that is the coaches fault not his

  • Caboose

EXACTLY. So stop saying he failed just at the 4.

  • LakeShow

We’ve seen time and again that new scenery can truly make a player shine again.

  • Caboose

4 of Memphis’ top 10 five man units in 11-12 featured Gay at the PF spot.

  • Nathan Shane Long

    lie

  • Caboose

WTF? It’s not a lie dude, that’s called an OBJECTIVE FACT from 82games.com.

You think your pathetic brain that cares only about f*cking shoe releases and NBA Live knows more than statisticians who study this? Your IQ aspires to room temperature, why don’t you let people who actually know the game talk and go back to f*cking your cousin or whatever retards like you do.

  • LakeShow

Show yourself! haha I can’t remember.

He’s not a great distributor, but he can more than get it done.

  • Caboose

    RKJ82, the Raptors guy

  • LakeShow

    Ah ha!

    Find him and destroy him..

  • Caboose

I’m gonna quote Scott Adams on this one.

“My favorite Mr. Boffo comic of all time featured Mr. Boffo (I assume) in a jail cell talking to his cellmate. He says about himself, ‘Nineteen arrests. Nineteen convictions. Maybe it’s me.’

“I come back to that philosophy often. You can only explain so many times why everyone else is wrong before you have to accept that the problem is on your end.”

The problem is on your end.

  • MUBWAR

i wish he was on that 7 players trade instead of vasquez.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

It’s hardly going to make a difference which guy carries the label. Think outside the box a bit, come on man. You are too smart to think about the game in such a linear way

  • Caboose

I know, I acknowledged that above to Lake.

  • Caboose

He would be the best 2, 3, and 4 on the team lol.

  • LakeShow

    True. Kinda sad, but true…

  • Caboose

    Welcome to life in Sacramento.

  • Nathan Shane Long

UH-OH somebody been on my facebook anyway what do you actually know about the game when you let irrelevant basketball websites brainwash your simple ass and P.S. for a guy like yourself that has poor genetics and a very fragile brittle bone structure you talking very tough like on the internet Alex

  • Caboose

Your facebook? No, why would I do that?

What do I know about the game? I played it for a decade, I’ve watched more games than you have (for damn sure), and I actually understand the analytics behind it. What do you have? A half-functioning cerebral cortex and an attitude.

What are you gonna do? Track me down and challenge me to a fight? Here, all we’ve got is words. And you SUCK with the English language. Obviously.

  • LakeShow

Wait did you just call him out for “F*cking his cousin” and then he said “UH-OH somebody been on my facebook”

    LMAO… what!!?

  • Nathan Shane Long

Anybody can play at the local YMCA or play on the JV like you did

  • Caboose

    HAHAHAHA yes he did.

  • LakeShow

This might be the greatest thing…. EVER…

Like the worst, and most disgusting, but most crazy confession in SLAM history…

  • Caboose

Yeah but not everybody has a triple digit IQ. Or graduated high school. Or has a job that involves something other than flipping burgers.

    Evidence: Nathan.

  • Caboose

Hahaha oh god, yes. That’s one for the SLAM Hall of Shame.

  • Nathan Shane Long

    stop it

  • Caboose

Honestly, the one good thing about this guy is that all the regulars are essentially bonding together to make fun of him. It’s definitely entertaining.

  • LakeShow

Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish.

    -Euripides

  • Caboose

Hit too close to the nerve there? Working really hard to get that $.25 raise from McDonald’s? Sad that you just couldn’t cut it that you failed out of school? Realizing that there’s not much out there for someone as dumb as you? How unfortunate.

  • LakeShow

I’d say give him a break, but he’s such a lil prick that he’s one of those guys that needs to be socked in the mouth. Hard.

  • Nathan Shane Long

And now you think your “winning” against me lol

  • MUBWAR

y do u keep swearing? act like a adult man

  • Caboose

It’s the only thing he’d respond to.

It’s like he’s not fully evolved and he only responds to the bigger ape asserting dominance over the smaller one.

  • MUBWAR

    lol that’s just rude

  • LakeShow

    Right.

Why would you ever take someone serious that starts each poorly written comment with a “F*ck you” or a “Dumbass” or a “listen here boy” …

  • Nathan Shane Long

What dominance can you establish being as such GENETICALLY INFERIOR AS YOU ARE ALEX

  • LakeShow

    You just nailed it.

He’s pushing a circular wood block through a square hole as hard as he can without realizing it physically cannot fit.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

I was thinking the same thing. They might damn well be the worst defensive team in the L with that lineup. Yet still very exciting.

  • Caboose

No joke, my IQ is probably double yours.

You are aware that without intellect we’d be similar to chimpanzees right? It’s because of intellect that I can make you look stupid from thousands of miles away.

Not because you have better vertebrae than me.

So genetically dominant? That would be me. And literally every other commenter here.

  • Caboose

So his solution is to start banging on it with his head.

OOGA. SHAPE NO FIT. IT SHAPE FAULT, NOT ME.

  • Nathan Shane Long

Typical corny white boy humor SMH

  • Caboose

Ah racism, there you are, welcome to the party.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

C’mon man although that was funny you don’t have to sling insults like that. If he chooses to do so then let him. I’ve been on this site for a minute now and I know you’re an insightful mind when discussing this basketball sh*t. Which is what this site is about. Just continue to talk basketball. People can talk sh*t all day over these threads man it’s just the nature of the internet. Nathan, me or anybody for that matter isn’t knocking at your door talking sh*t to your face anytime soon so until that day comes just ignore it burh.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

You not only f*cked your cousin…..but you put it on facebook?

    http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ln47b9qbZV1qii6tmo1_250.gif

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    i am so dead

  • Nathan Shane Long

and only a lame such as yourself would think that would be “funny”

  • Caboose

    Alright. I’ll stop.

It was more venting at this point (and trying to at least be funny).

  • Caboose

Totally just now realized how you typed Woj’s name. And that was like the 3rd time I read this comment.

  • Nathan Shane Long

    I know your rant sucked

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    hahahahaha

  • LakeShow

He probably legitimately thinks he’s smarter than this guy due to how he looks lol…

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

I feel you man I’m not bashing you for it. Just making you see that it was(is) pointless to banter back and forth with him. You spout facts then he minimizes the sources or insults you. It’s typical child behavior and it’s just done to get under your skin. I find him pretty damn funny to be honest.

  • LakeShow

I dunno where that GIF you posted went but I absolutely died when I saw that.. one of those moments(in the office) when you are trying to contain laughter so hard that you end up sounding even more ridiculous trying to keep it in. This is just too friggin hilarious… I can’t believe what has transpired here….

  • Caboose

I’m sure it’s funny from a third party view, just not when you’re the target.

Sometimes I just can’t believe he’s real, like he’s some fake guy the SLAM staff made up to increase the number of comments on their articles. It’s distressing to me that people like Nathan can vote. And reproduce. Though hopefully the females of the world are smart enough to stop that second one.

But as for conversing with him, I’ll stop if it is irritating to other commenters here.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Derrick Williams has not played enough minutes at any position to say much of anything about him. Minnesota was just a terrible fit. Skillset wise, and the way the game is played, he is much more likely to find success as a “4″ if you really have to define it.

  • Caboose

    “You f*ck your cousin.”
“Uh oh, did you check my Facebook?”
    “….”

For that alone, this dude deserves the title of funniest commenter.

  • LakeShow

I am not sure I want him banned…

I want him in jail, but not banned from SLAM.

Naw, I want him banned… lol

  • Saleem Rainman

    LOL

  • Saleem Rainman

    this is good stuff

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

today is the type of day that makes commenting on SLAM worth the nonsense

  • Caboose

Best part is, through all of this, he hasn’t denied or contested anything.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

I mean it was funny when he was insulting me lol like I’ve said before I’m in the military it’s worse things said and if we cross the line we def handle it accordingly. So some guy on the internet isn’t gonna upset me. But for what it’s worth it’s not bothering me as a commenter it’s entertaining.

  • Nathan Shane Long

    That so wrong!

  • Caboose

    Bahahaha

  • Nathan Shane Long

I don’t no why that fragile ass white boy would makeup something like that

  • Nathan Shane Long

you making up something as preposterous as that need no denial

  • Caboose

We didn’t make up anything, you said it.

  • LakeShow

No that’s not “wrong”, that’s one of our greatest minds today.

  • Caboose

There is no chance he knows who that is. Which is pathetic.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i don’t know why his race matters. and i don’t know why you admitted it if it isn’t true.

    http://media.giphy.com/media/xYLRCmVZNAbCg/giphy.gif

  • LakeShow

    “making up”…
We have the written words in SLAM cyberspace now, no going back on that…

  • The Fury

It is!! Oh man, this is a good day in TPU.

  • Nathan Shane Long

    That is Stephen Hawking troll

  • Caboose

Ah good, you learned how to use Google.

    Proud of you!

  • LakeShow

    I know right…

He’s probably thinking: “y dey tink dat guy smrtr thn me.”

  • Nathan Shane Long

    No google needed actually

  • SLAM

    Dear Caboose,
    Get the f*ck over it.
    -SLAM

  • pposse

does any site show ‘hockey assists’?

  • Nathan Shane Long

You making up SH*T show how much of a jerk-off you really are and you and your two buddies NBK AND LAKESHOW can continue to have your gay three way CIRCLE JERK SESSION” AND KEEP UP WITH LAME CORNY ASS HUMOR

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    :)

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk
  • LakeShow

  • Guest

You really got to this Caboose guy lol.

  • Maggle

I “watch” the comments all the time… Caboose, I (and everyone else) agree Nathan is an idiot, but dude you are an idiot too for actually getting riled up day after day after day over some random moron on the internet. Don’t you realize you give him more power by reacting to his comments the way you do?

If everyone ignored him, surely he would dial down his stupid rants…

An idiot makes comment such as Nathan’s. A bigger idiot let’s these “obvious troll comments” get to their heads day after day. Don’t deny this.. You gave him the power to annoy you.

  • Caboose

Sigh. Why have rules if we’re just gonna ignore them?

  • Nathan Shane Long

I know i got to all these troll FAGG*TS ASS WHITE BOYS over the past several months and now these monkeys have decided to join forces and form the “SLAM CIRCLE JERK CREW” AND ATTACK ME WITH sophomoric juvenile typical white boys humor WITH THE I.Q. LEVEL OF BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD

  • Nathan Shane Long

First of all i don’t “rant” i merely make comments so f*ck what you think!!!!!

  • Maggle

I know.. I agree.. Take it out on SLAM (they have been pretty pathetic past couple years in terms of content posted/comment policing/etc…) Surely, SLAM will not take much action, so literally only thing to do is ignore the fool Nathan man.

  • Caboose

Honestly, I’ll probably ignore SLAM altogether for a while if this persists. SLAM really has been sh!tty about commenting or at least giving a sh!t about their commenters.

  • Maggle

Why? Just ignore Nathan and continue having good bball conversations with the others.

  • Caboose

More to prove a point. Why use a site that the mods and writers don’t care about? There’s no shortage of good bball sites. I only use SLAM because I’ve been here longest.

  • Lambert

Why can’t you just ignore dude? Like really. He’s obviously a worthless piece of sh*t.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

they obviously do somewhat read the comments….i mean, i don’t think they employed the Disqus system for no reason. And Disqus, i’m pretty sure, is who “moderates” the comments in terms of banning people and stuff like that. Just look at Nathan like a child, and treat him like a child. Complaining about it like this is really counterproductive to what you are trying to accomplish.

  • Caboose

Oh that is what I’m doing now for sure.

  • Caboose

They read the comments (past tense).

For instance, when was the last time Ryne posted here? 2 months ago.

Ryne follows me, meaning he’s seen my comments. If he’s looking.

Why bother on a site that doesn’t care anymore?

(not to mention, Disqus is a way easier system and cheaper to run anyways, the change could have been financial, not commenter input)

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

idk, but why does it really matter? it’s not like commenting has ever achieved much of anything, our opinions are just offered for our own entertainment. i mean i would like to believe me commenting could actually mean something, but i know it doesn’t. might as well view it realistically, and treat nathan accordingly…..like he doesn’t matter.

  • MAggles

If you can find another site that has the consistent good sized group of smart basketball input commenters and you feel its more worth it then go ahead.. For someone like you, I feel it’s worth it to stay in SLAM just for the 95% commenters who arent idiots. The basketball discussions on here are great

  • LakeShow

I took a peep at your face book.

    You’re a sad man.

You really need a total make over of your personality.

Calling your “friends” and “family” Cunts, Whor*s, B*tches, making fun of “#WHITEPEOPLE…

What a sad existence you live…

Try to enjoy the holidays Scrooge…

I will be ignoring you for now on.

  • Caboose

Then why comment here? If there’s other sites, why use one that has just been getting sh!ttier and sh!ttier?

  • Caboose

Well, regardless, I am gonna take a break from commenting. I’m sure I’ll come back, and I’ll still read SLAM. But yeah, I’m sick of commenting as of now.

So yeah, not much formality to it, but see ya SLAMily, at least for a little while. (like a couple weeks, so it’s not that grand of an exit lol).

  • AlbertBarr

After all the back and forth about Nathan Shane Long and his commenting today—does anyone ever miss the greek dude from a few years back? That was less ridiculous…and it was pretty ridiculous.

  • AlbertBarr

    I am still disappointed.

  • Maggle

Let’s face it… Nathan drove you outta SLAM lol. Nothing to be “tired of” in commenting.. You’re probably killing random time on here commenting, nothing that “needs a break” lol. Just ignore the fool and move on

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i comment here because i grew up with SLAM, and it was the original SLAM guys like Eboy/Allen/Myles/Ryan/Bryan/Brad that I learned how to argue from. Plus I like Ryne, Adam, Ben and the other people that still work at SLAM that I have had the pleasure of communicating with. It’s not like any comment section is a door to accomplish anything, and it’s not like any other comment section is free of the types of moronic opinions spewing out of Nathan’s head. If you want to be able to dictate whose opinion you come across, and the quality of the content you are reading, i highly suggest you use Twitter. It’s really the only way to dictate your “commenting” experience.

  • maggle

Nathan is like a GREEK DUDE wanna be. Like he wants to be the new “greek dude” being ridiculous and all. Thing is.. Greek dude was kinda funny and not that annoying. Nathan is just annoying lol

  • AlbertBarr

I would say Shock Exchange is more like greek dude than Nathan. But I am amused by Shock at least.

  • Maggle

Exactly, both are tolerable and funny at times. (Both were funny most of the time to me). As I was saying, Nathan wants to be the new ‘funny ridiculous guy’ but he’s not.

  • LakeShow

Yeah shock is more in the spanny vein.

NSL is more “the nerve” way of commenting.

  • AlbertBarr

    Perfect.

  • Nathan Shane Long

That what you said weeks ago tho

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

hey! nerve was that dude, he didn’t talk like this at all. he couldn’t spell a word big enough to win a 2nd grade spelling bee, but he wasn’t flaming like this guy

  • LakeShow

haha, he was waaaaay cooler, I’m a fan, I miss him a bit, but he was still a troll with little to bring to the table as far basketball discussions go.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

for whatever it’s worth, you do have the option of e-mailing the SLAM guys directly. maybe you just didn’t know that, but there is a contact us link on the main page (at the bottom)

  • LakeShow

I didn’t realize back then that you were a plague that could not be countered with logic and basic human understanding.

    Peace. For good this time.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

well yeah, that’s why he only commented randomly for like 2 hours every couple weeks lol

  • LakeShow

    “from jail” haha

  • Dagger

I disagree. Commenting does mean something. A huge part of the entertainment I get from sites like SLAM comes from the comment sections. In fact, for most stories I just read the comments first.

I’m not alone, and that means comment sections are very valuable, not least for media organizations that depend on traffic.

Some people add value to comment sections, and others degrade them. I think it’s worth removing those who go too far in degrading them. It’s especially worth removing those who undermine the efforts of people who do add value to comment sections.

But if you’re going to petition SLAM or any other site to remove a trollish commentator, obviously the worst way to do it is in the comment section.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

that’s fair, and i hope there are more people like you!

  • Nathan Shane Long

you idiots have no logic tho all of you have tried to “counter” me with stupid GIF’s and Beavis and Butthead sophomoric comedy

  • Max

    Nice!

  • JL

Maybe he had some inside info and really was working on a ploy to get Thomas to the Raptors instead of Vasquez.

  • davidR

what about oldschool jtaylor? or eboy?

  • davidR

curry is great! but i wouldn’t place him that high just yet. he turns the ball over way too much to really be a reliable point guard. he does his damage through scoring

  • davidR

    so fitting.

  • davidR

being in the bay area, i’m rooting for the kings. especially with all they had to put up with under the later stages of the maloofs. they look to be in a similar position the dubs were 2 years ago

  • ATL dynamite

But being fair he has still been rushing shots near the end of games and blow games (at least from the Kings games I watched this season), that’s still an issue. But apart from that I have absolutely nothing against his play. He has been phenomenal.

  • Mike From Spain

I remember that, he used to call Iverson ‘Anna’ and had other weird nicknames for players.

  • Mike From Spain

Oh yes, I miss eboy too. He got under my skin even without going personal or insulting, he had a way to express himself …

  • Mike From Spain

Do you remember the attack of the NBK clones? Those were the days too…

  • Max

John Wall has tose intagibles also, numerous times he has risen to the occasion this season at the end of games but alot of the times his teammates haven’t.

  • Greek Dude Reborn

Allen Iverson is still the Anna Kournikova of basketball!

  • Phrase Police

    Ignoring him “from now on”.

  • Grammar Police

    By ‘whom’.

  • CCT

Thank you! i miss me too.

  • CCT

Boy, that makes me feel old. Lol.

  • CCT

I liked nerve too. He always like the old school commenters….except for Jukai. And jtaylor. LOL.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

hahaha, i just felt like that mirror of yours needed an assist

  • LakeShow

    f*ck off

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

That’s really uncalled for insulting someones intelligence/educational opportunities. Then deriding them for a job in which they are trying to support themselves. Be humble and have some shame. @disqus_rOeXXBD2qs:disqus @disqus_j65FuvcSML:disqus I may not be the most knowledgable about a game or slam magazine but be smart you have the option to ignore and not reply to @nathanshanelong:disqus post but you choose to engage. And nathan using foul language isn’t acceptable. Fear your Maker all of us. The day of judgement is coming. Your really enemy is the shaytan.

Also @nbk you still never responded to why your creative theology is truthful compared to the claims of any other religion. you are free to believe whatever you want but there is only 1 absolute truth.

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

    As Salamu Alaykum ikwa

  • Initbruv

    How do you know that?

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

    what?

  • Initbruv

How do you know that the day of judgement is coming; whom is one’s real enemy; and that there is one absolute truth?

    It’s a trick question, you don’t know.

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

Lol bro I do know 100%. I have provided multiple ppl objective evidences on here that can be examined. Blind faith is irrational you are a human being use your brain.

Here are two sites to check out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOwA0v026wY (video series give up watching an nba game here or there this

    http://www.thedeenshow.com/

Plz critically and carefully examine evidences from pro and anti islamic sites. Please carefully examine the scholarship. Go to all disciplines from oceanography, embryology, biblical scholarship, egyptology, etc to examine the Truthfulness of the Holy Qur’an claims.

If you want I can provide you 9 Holy Qur’anic evidences and 1 Hadith evidence that are testable and the same result will come out regardless of the observer. what the individual chooses to believe about the evidence is a different matter

  • Initbruv

You are being irrational, I’m just letting you know. You just seem like someone who is very drawn to Islam all of a sudden and now you’re obnoxiously sure of yourself and have to tell everyone else what you “know”. People from all ideologies do this and they’re all equally certain of themselves. But I guess you are different and Islam is different eh?

Humans are not as smart as you think they are. Humans are not as important as you think they are. I know that. I KNOW that is a fact. So what do we do? We’re both equally certain of what we “know”.

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

That’s nonsense. what makes your claims true that all religions are equal in their veracity. let alone that a nonreligious view is superior in truth. You make me appear arrogant. However arrogance is unmerited claims. What have i shown that is unmeritted

People believed that pigmentation was directly proportional to violence tendencies and indirectly related to Intelligence hence racism.

You can’t group religions as 1 entity you have to examine each of them individually. When any book enters the human project claiming to be from a Supernatural origin one must examine the claims seriously.

Btw even the function or religion is misunderstood. Religion isn’t solely an opiod for the masses or a way to promote good behavior. No religion provides a narrative of the human project.

  • Initbruv

I don’t know that my views are superior, they are just what I’ve come up with after having thought about this stuff often and through my experience and existence. And I really don’t group religions together, but I do find a recurring set of false prophets who “know” things in all religions (and atheists).

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

Bro examine the claims. have you combed through the Hebrew Bible, Gospels cannonical and noncannoincal, Vedas, Holy Qur’an and text claiming to be from a supernatural origin.

Most ppl spend time watching months worth of entertainment and never even care to examine the supernatural origin claims. or read or use their intellects. The mind stays numb off pleasure
read the documentation. read the evidence

  • Initbruv

Essentially, it comes down to this: if there is such a thing as a soul,
then I don’t think humans are the only ones that have them. Religion
makes these claims about humans as though we are the only ones with God. That is a predictable result of the human condition- ie having a large enough brain (and enough leisurely time) to consider life and our purpose. But to act as though it’s a 50/50 chance that any given religion reveals the actual words of God or the meaning of life is absurd. It’s a very very very small chance that any given religion is true, so no, I haven’t read the Hebrew Bible (I don’t speak Hebrew) and I haven’t read the Qur’an.

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

Bro you seem like a thinking individual. Giving opinions and conjectures is fine but there is no tangible reproducible objective evidence to support your claims.

Everyone can talk that’s fine. PPL are free to believe whatever they want thats fine but that doesn’t make it Truthful/factual.

Saying that probablity and all the other rhetoric is empty. Please instead of philosophizing take time to study

  • Initbruv

I have studied a great deal. If you’re saying that I should study the Bible and the Qur’an, that means you have not been reading what I’ve written. I think it’s all fantasy. I think we are just an animal with a bigger brain than other species on the planet so we think we are being watched and judged and we’re the children of God, etc. We are more evil than any other species that we know of and yet we still think we’re special for some reason. I don’t. And I didn’t come to that conclusion through any specific reading of their doctrines or from some atheist documentary on the internet. I decided on my own that they are inherently anachronistic. It makes sense for past civilizations to make up religions (and they all did). I’m baffled by how many people are still religious but, hey, I’m baffled by a lot of the things people do.

Obviously I’m outnumbered in coming to that conclusion but it’s my perspective on things. What you call rhetoric, I call my point of view. And what you call studying, I call a waste of time.

  • AddingVelocityDontTellMe

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKOGVU5UfS0

You need reread my posts here. Read Holy Qur’an 51:56. If jinn species aint real the Holy Qur’an is not 100% truthful. Here is an anology Jinn species: Ruqyah is like Oxygen to Spectroscopy. This is just an observation let you know an unseen reality exists. Jinn species are also free willed inhabitants on earth that will be judged.

I know for a fact Jinn species is real.

  • Mike From Spain

    Yo, that you? what’s up?

  • CCT

Yeah, it’s me…..spend most of my internet time on Twitter now. This discussion was just too crazy not to jump into.

  • Mike From Spain

Oh, I just realized I am an ‘old school commenter’ too, only that I never commented that much.
