Danilo Gallinari Had Season-Ending Knee Surgery

The Denver Nuggets announced today that forward Danilo Gallinari went under the knife for a second time to reconstruct an ACL tear in his left knee. Gallo is expected to return next season. From the press release:

“It was recently determined that the procedure that Danilo underwent on his knee this past summer was insufficient,” Nuggets General Manager and Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly said.

“Danilo’s knee required that he undergo reconstruction of the ACL, which was successfully completed earlier this morning. Knowing Danilo’s drive and work ethic, we look forward to a full recovery and a healthy return to the court next season.”

Gallinari tore his ACL on April 4, 2013, against the Dallas Mavericks.

Should have had this surgery over summer….from what I’ve heard, he didn’t have the usual, conventional surgery at summer? What surgery did he have at summer?

  • danpowers

ehw, that sucks. hope hell get back at 100% next season.

  • LakeShow

He’s a fun player to watch. Hope he comes back 100%… But not looking good.

  • TTN

Damn, young man has a nice game……kinda sounds like Josh Horward.. 2 surgeries fir the same knee is never good. Hope he can make it back.

So it ended before it even started, such a shame.

i am totally shocked that the not surgery on danilo gallinari’s knee didn’t repair his torn acl. because not surgery normally works on torn acl’s.

“an arthroscopic procedure designed to promote healing”

  • Dfrance

Guess I can remove him from my fantasy league “watch list” now.

lets wait for the first guy not getting the joke. nathan shane long anyone?

  • Doug

I totally agree. Guy tears his ACL in April, doesn’t get surgery, comes back 6 months later and ends up with a problem 3 months into the season. You can’t fault the medical staff…no one could’ve seen this coming.

man he hasn’t played a single game.

  • Saleem Rainman

they were sayin last year, the injury might be career threatning and he might not play again…

  • The Seed

As soon as he comes back, trade him or Chandler, Nuggets do not need both. Same thing with Robinson and Lawson, you don’t need to 5’9 players playing together. Nuggets are dysfunctional.

  • pposse

this should have people questioning Danilo’s heart. In what world is okay to not get the necessary surgery you need until nearly 10 months after you get injured. Dude is looking more like Eddy Curry right now than anyone else.

i almost didn’t believe you the first time your wrote it. but why are they calling it going under the knife for the second time? what did they do the first time if they didn’t fix the acl? just the meniscus or what?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

All that I have ever seen is that it was experimental, arthroscopic, and “meant to promote healing” – “Danilo Gallinari had an arthroscopic procedure to promote healing of his ACL tear,” http://t.co/Gnmw0Grx0s
“he was operated on by noted surgeon Dr. Richard Steadman….Dr. Steadman has performed over 2,000 of these procedures.” – no mention of any being on pro athletes though

medical staff gets kickback of 10 mil for sitting.

    1. seems like some hippie s#!t

    2. stay away from steadman

don’t know if u ever read that. very interesting article on acl’s

  • The Philosopher

Hate to be the pessimist, but, this may be it for him.
    He’s had some bad injuries.
    He may come back.
But, he’ll be the backup’s backup.
    He’ll be Jason Kapono.

nice fatalism, but gallo will be ok
