Cleveland Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving wants to defend his long-distance title during NBA All-Star Weekend. Per the News-Herald:
“There have only been a few back-to-back champs,” Irving said. “My goal is to accomplish what Larry Bird did, which is win it three years in a row.
“If they ask me to come back, I’ll definitely come back.”
The 3-point shootout is on Feb. 15. Irving was named a starter for the Eastern Conference All-Star team on Thursday.
“I wouldn’t be able to do it without the fans, and also my teammates encouraging me every step of the way,” Irving said. “It’s a great honor to be part of the U.S. Olympic roster and being a starter.
“It’s a dream come true, something I’ve dreamt about as a kid.”
