DeShawn Stevenson’s ‘Last Words’ for LeBron

by Jonathan Santiago / @itsJONsantiago

The Mavericks celebrated their NBA Championship today with a parade through the streets of Dallas and a rally at the American Airlines Center.  And despite being arrested two days ago for public intoxication, Mavs guard DeShawn Stevenson was able to make his $475 bail yesterday just in time for the party.  During the celebration, a Mavs announcer asked Stevenson if he had any final words for the Miami Heat and in particular, LeBron James: “You saw what my shirt said.  We got the ring baby!”

Listen to Stevenson take the mic here or on the audio player below:

He called the Heat “classless,” this guy has no class at all!

  • jpavc

Who needs class when you got so much SWAG?

  • http://Slamonline.com Caboose

I used to think this guy was funny, but he’s taking this too far. I mean, didn’t his middle school coach ever mention sportsmanship? Take a lesson from Dirk.

  • Dagger

Amazing how fast DeShawn burnt through the first bit of goodwill in his career.

  • doyouwantmore

I wouldn’t want to win like that guy. He can’t even enjoy his own victory. Its all about someone else’s loss, which just highlights his insecurities even more. Something tells me Deshawn will own a car dealership someday.

  • riggs

yeah…this quickly turned from everyone laughing with him, to everyone laughing at him.

  • mtobi

I would so like to see Lebron smashing one of his shots to the freaking floor next year.

  • Eddie1

I would just like to see a next year period. Real talk. Illuminati. Holllla.

  • neaorin

at the end of the day he still has to go back and live the same life he had yesterday morning.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

So when’s your final final FINAL “END OF SEASON DEDICATION” to all the “MIA’s”, bull22?
Cause that sh*t got old last week.

  • robb

I thought he would say: “Stay thirsty my friend”

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ 1982

    cosign eddie1?

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

I don’t think anyone on the planet thought Deshawn Stevenson would get a ring before Lebron two-three years ago.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ 1982

BlackPhantom I thought the exact same thing right before the buzzer sounded.

  • ClydeSays

I’m getting the feeling this is the Summer of DeShawn….. Who thought DeShawn, Brian Cardinal, Peja Stojakovic & Corey Brewer would have Championship rings before Lebron?

  • FuxedYoBizitch

I’m not a Heat Fan or Lebron lover, but I hate all this dumb sh!t about how DeShawn Stevenson, Brian Cardinal, Scalabrine, and all the other guys have rings before Lebron. They (especially Cardinal and Scalabrine) had minor/almost non existent roles in regards to their teams champioship victory. @BlackPhantom , how is it sooo crazy that Stevenson has a ring before Lebron? He was a minor role player for that team for the most part. Lebron plays a lead role. But I think stevenson is acting like an idiot talking ish. HE ALSO THINKS THAT SOULJA BOY IS BETTER THAN JAY-Z. F**K HIM.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

My goodness, shut up already DeShawn.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

@FYB……it’s crazy because Lebron was destroying Deshawn and the Wizards when he was in Cleveland. If you put that in perspective I’m sure no one….including you, thought he’d get a ring before Lebron.

Yeah. Its time 4 Deshawn 2 just shut up. It might have been a lil humurous n the beginning but now its almost sad. One would think that given he has a title b4 his “rival” he would just simmer down, focus on the moment and not give 2 sh!ts bout LBJ. Altho he is a champ, he’s just coming across, like usual, as a chump.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Nick Tha Quick

It’s going to be a long summer: no blockbuster trades/free agent signings, crappy draft class, Deshawn who just can’t stop and won’t stop and having to read through Bull22′s final, before final, yet final daily dedication. I can’t even begin to imagine if the Bulls had won.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

If the Bulls had won, I’d be so damn ign’ant and irrational on these boards, I woulda made Bull22 look like AllenP. Ha ha.

  • @Deknowz

    I can’t stand this dude.

  • clintonsoraloffice

The MAVs showed that talent and persistence will overcome youth and speed.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Nick Tha Quick

AllenP should not be mentioned on the same breath as Bull22 …I thought JVG and MJax cleared that up a few weeks ago, bro!

  • jocktang

Don’t listen to them Deshawn, you got the last laugh (for now) Good on you for sticking up to LBJ both years ago and now. You totally earned my respect by the way you played in this series… and hey maybe all the psychological stuff worked on Ledouche.. I mean LBJ didn’t come to play games 4,5,6.
    CRANK DAT!!!

  • Neitel

Talk about “classless”, isn’t deshawn the same guy who got charged with raping a 14 year old girl? you were accused of being a rapist guy, and you want to talk trash to the heat? the heat lost as a whole, not just lebron..so, you shouldn’t be talking about someone else’s dirt, when your eye is full of mud!

  • spursnation

Robert Horry has 7 rings. He must be better than Kareem, Michael, Magic, Duncan, Shaq and Kobe right? What a joke, DeShawn Stevenson is nothing more than an illiterate bum who can’t handle his liquor.

  • hirardu

@bull22 take some memory vitamins to somehow revive your brain. It might help U. And stop posting same old ish! Have some originality.

  • Lloyd

    poor man’s ron artest.

  • alphabetaherculis

Stevenson the joke is on you, and has always been. LBJ has another 12-13 yrs in this league and will win several chips. Meanwhile, you have probably another 2-3 yrs and then you will be old news. Nobody wants a bum like you, with the talent coming out college every year, you are easily replaceable………LBJ is not. LMAO.

  • Rob

Whenever I see this clown Stephenson, I think back to when Utah came to Miami in Wade’s rookie year and he got crossed over so bad, he fell on his ass. Wade looked at him and nailed the jumper. I was LMAO cuz I was in the Utah visitors ticket section and 2 groupies he got tickets for were laughing at him all game as Wade lit him up that night. They left after the 3rd qtr and told another family member to tell Stephenson they had an emergency.

And he’s bragging about a ring he won before LBJ after posting bond? He won’t even be on the team next season. I guess he thinks he’s better than Reggie Miller and Chuck Barkley too.

  • r2j

This goes all the way back to the lil’ beef he had with Bron’ from the soulja boy-Jay-Z fiasco. Bron’ was being looked at as the good guy but now the roles have reversed. Now Bron’ knows what it feels like the be on the other end and that’s Stevenson was at in WAS. Stevenson is gonna enjoy every single minute of this, LeBron enjoyed his last summer so now let someone else have their bask of glory.

  • MikeC.

@alphabetaherculis – Lebron has another 12-13 years in the league? He just finished his 8th. A wing player that relies heavily on athleticism is going to play 20 years in the NBA? Wow. Fill me in on how that’s going to be possible.

  • MikeC.

All these cats that keep saying “Lebron has all this time to get it right, and just wait for the future because it’s going to over for the rest of the league because Wade and Lebron are going to win 6 or 7 championships!” The clock is running. Wade is already in the middle of his prime, and has 3 maybe 4 seasons of elite ball left. He’s also proven to be injury prone, so that window might start to close even faster with the lack of a reliable J. Lebron is a physical monster but seems to be a mental midget. He has also played in the NBA for 8 years. At this point, maybe he am what he am. Which has proven to be underwhelming when it counts. I’m pretty sure that it counts in the playoffs.

  • TP

If the parade is over, will DeShawn go away now?

  • Trout

Leave Robert Horry out of this the guy was great not called big shot Rob for nothin… all those who hate what DeShawn is doing how different is that from what Shaq did when Kobe missed out on a ring? This is probably the only time in DeShawn will have the limelight so let him have it I say obscurity is only around the corner for dude…

  • kiwi_intheUK

The comments on here just remind me how most slam readers will just routinely hate on what ever is juxtaposed in a negative light in the article.
This guy just won an NBA championship! That’s like 100 + games in the best league in the world. You can say and do what you like in when you win a chip

  • Mike From Spain

How long does the ‘just-won-a-ring leniency rule’ last? Let’s see when does DeShawn stop making himself newsworthy for all the wrong reasons.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Max

    Let him enjoy!

  • Gaz

Gaz’s last words for BETCATS, ‘you are gay’

  • Krisjanis

C’mon guys, in the final game of THE FINALS he hit 3 shots from a distance LeBron could never hit in that series. He didn’t choke at least.

  • unrel

i have no problem with what he’s doing.. with dwade and bron doing the whole cough gate thing.. and dirk just saying.. ‘that’s not nice’.. for the mavs to win.. deshawn is doing/saying.. everything that the rest of the mavs can’t (due to reputations or whatever).. think about how much dirk really wants to say.. every crew needs a goon that can take the backlash from the rest of the world.. he’s not hurting anybody.. he’s just popping his collar while holding his nuts..

  • c-LOs

Any crack headed smoker who gets Abraham Lincoln tattooed to his adam’s apple really cannot be taken seriously. Every year, role players win rings just like Stevenson, Big Deal. I hear Luke Walton has a few. What a legacy.

  • Jim

When you actually contribute to a championship, you get to talk sh*t till the end of June. After that it’s time to stfu.

  • john rambo

how UNGRATEFUL!!! he should have tanked Le Bron instead… because Le Bron GIFTED the Mavs the NBA Championship by being NOT HIMSELF starting game # 3!!!

  • CubicleWorker

    LOLLLL @ unrel

    unel wins !

  • asgf

LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke!LeChoke! BTW if MIA won the ring do you honestly think they’d handle it with class?

  • gakbrenti

    lebron is a LOSER!!!!

  • Jay P

This man thinks a lil too highly of himself. The Mavs could have won without him. What he play, like 15 mind a game? LeBron James is the best player in the NBA, therefore, the Mavs won because of him, the Heat lost because of him, but also definitely got there because of him. Deshawn is irrelevant. This is he just happened to play a few mins per game for the Mavs.

  • Ballislife

Why is he talking trash to lebron when he knows lebron would kill him one on one

  • rosado3p

no, the mavs are the best because of stevenson. he just man enough to talk. what, lebron james can declare himself king and stevenson can’t say anything? thats pure bs and hipocricy on the part of you lebronfans. i hate the man (lebron), personally, but have always respected his game. if he talk the talk, he better walk the walk. stevenson did. lebron didn’t. 1-0 Stevenson.

  • Vitor

    How’s my Dirk’s taste?????
