Epic song from a great group. Only wish they could have made more music together. As L Boogie said “it’s funny how money changes situation.”

They probably could have gotten back together if Rohan Marley didn’t drive her azz crazy.

    I just love this song.

  • BlackStar

@ dfrance21 – Rohan put that root on her and the poor girl lost her mind. I’m just mad because she was supposed to be my future ex-wife and he messed everything up. Dang bastard … Lol.

L Boogie is hands down the best female spitter in the game!! only wish she put out more music

How about Eminem, Jay-Z, Ca$his, Dre, 50 cent and Stat Quo on the song “Syllables”.. the song is sending a message to everyone about modern music in society, and what the problems are…..check it out, they all go hard !!

Word, only female MC that could f*ck with Lauryn Hill is probably Jean Grae.
@GP23 – hmm..never heard of that song. I looked up the lyrics. Em went off, Jay-Z and 50 had a lazy verse but that was obviously intentional, Dre obviously had either Em or Royce Da 5’9″ ghostwrite for him again, and the other two I never heard of.
I’ll check out the actual song after work though. Other rappers have rapped about how people don’t listen to lyrics anymore.
Common, Masta Ace, Little Brother, but it’s good to see all-time greats and heavyweights like Jay, Em and Dre rap about it.

ENIG, YOUVE NEVER HEARD OF STAT QUO? HES FROM ATL, HES OK. NOTHING GREAT. …. PEEP K-RINO’S ‘KILLIN THE GAME’

Wow, it’s been awhile since I heard anyone mention Jean Grae.

Nah, Tarzan, I’m not up to a lot of these rappers that come out post-2000.

    Maigical album and Artist

Great song. If I remember correctly though (I can’t play the clip), the video is way too grandiose. They should have gone with a simpler video with the group members just chilling instead of doing some huge @ss video with special effects and soldiers and camouflage.

lol the only subject that’s been covered almost as much as crime/gangsters in rap music is the deterioration of rap music, and how no one cares about the lyrics–or how everyone raps about crime/gangsters.
I mean, Common Sense did “I Used to Love H.E.R.” in ’94, complaining about the state of rap music during the GREATEST YEAR FOR RAP MUSIC EVER. Kinda funny, but it still makes for good music.

Also, MC Lyte is the GOAT of female rappers. But Lauryn is tight, and Jean Grae is pretty nice too.

  • fruizm

this song, “Family Business” and “Fugee-La” are amazing!

  • HAMMER

    Oooh! Love The Delfonics.
@fruizm. Also “Zealots”. What an album “The Score” was/is.
Lauren, in my opinion, is the G.O.A.T.

Poor Lauryn Hill…she was so amazing, Her only album is like one of the greatest albums ever, such an amazing versatility displayed on that album. Dope lyrics and a simply amazing voice, not to mention some amazing collabos as well(Carlos Santana on guitar in “Zion”, D’Angelo in “Nothing Even Matters”, Mary J. Blige in “I Used To Love Him”) simply amazing, it’s a shame she hasn’t come out with much else.

  • O

Didn’t Irv Gotti say that Nicki Minaj was better than Lauryn Hill?? Drake was probably tossing his salad when he made that comment…
