Oregon’s rise to one of the top teams in college basketball has led to a three-year extension for Ducks head coach Dana Altman.

Since taking over for Ernie Kent in 2010-11, Altman has led the Ducks a 73-37 record, including a 28-8 record and a trip to the Sweet 16 last season. Also in 2013, Altman won the Pac-12 and Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year.

From The Oregonian:

“Dana has been masterful at elevating Oregon basketball and generating renewed excitement for our program,” said [Director of Athletics Rob] Mullens. “We have high expectations at Oregon to regularly compete for PAC-12 championships coupled with deep NCAA tournament runs and Dana is the right coach to lead us there. He and his family are a great fit at Oregon and we are pleased to extend our commitment to them.”

“Our entire staff is excited to continue building the Oregon Basketball program,” Altman said. “The University of Oregon has a tremendous athletic department and we value the opportunity to contribute to the tradition of excellence.”

This season, Oregon is ranked 14th in the country with a 4-0 record.
