Polladaday: Team USA’s Odd Man Out?

Team USA’s 2010 FIBA World Championship roster currently holds 13 players. The max is 12. One cut remains before play begins in Turkey; who should book a flight home?

Who's getting cut from Team USA?

Cutting a Clipper just feels right.

  • Overtime

I chose Curry, not that i think that he should, merely because of the injury, they might not want ot risk it.
Orange4ever has a good point tho

id have to go with curry but only because he is not 100% at the moment

Russell Westbrook is the next guy out, and its unfortunate. Eric Gordon has performed well every time I’ve seen him, his stroke, range, and FT% is needed. Russell holds his own from the arc and in, and is extremely explosive…but thats what they’ve got Derrick Rose for. Steph Curry’s shooting is a necesity as well……..I like what AI brings, he and Rudy are almost interchangeable but I think he’s a more polished scorer than Rudy is. He deserves a spot on this team

dang, just read the news about Curry….a little late i know…yeah in that case he’s got to be the odd man out….even though he isn’t going to be needed for his athleticism any.

It looks like Westbrook is gaining on Gordon, however, I still believe Gordon gets cut. BOOK IT!

i hope westbrook doesnt get cut.. this experience between him and kd would be priceless to the success of the thunder

  • hoodsnake

Curry for obvious reasons. I think he will pull himself out.

i think westbrook sould be cut because him, rondo, and rose are all to similar to play well together. but if curry is too hurt then he will be cut

If Curry can find a hyperbaric chamber to heal, then cut Westbrook. With Rose and Rondo, Russ is superfluous but they’re looking at healthy body versus deadweight.

Coach K was raving about senor gordon yet you fellas say he’ll get cut….nonsense! thats re-dick

After watching that dreadful shooting performance against Lithuania, there is no way we can cut the best outside shooter we have in Stephen Curry. . . its funny, those 3′s by Westbrook were what cracked the game open for Team USA, I just don’t think its far to cut the kid… in all honesty the weakest guard on the floor was Chauncey Billups… but I guess his seniority would prevent him from getting cut

honestly i don’t know why they wouldnt cut gordon. curry’s stroke is necessary, and they have great guards who can hold down the two spot if/when he doesnt return from injury. the person who i think would get cut besides gordon is chauncey just because he might not be able to keep up with all the young blood imo, but his cold-bloodedness and veteran presence are anchors to the team’s success. andre is probably the most athletic dude on the team and is needed for his length and potential to leap buildings higher than any other country’s star athlete. finally westbrook is a better replacement for curry at the two than gordon, if he gets less playtime at the one than rose and rajon. besides, we’ve seen how successful the two point guard set up was in the last olympiad, and he’ll be needed if but to replace derrick or rondo when they need a breather. also, he’s fast. rondo-fast. eric is the odd man out.

Why won’t they cut Rondo?? He’s been the least impressive of all the guards so far. And Billups is the OG, but he’s been the second-least impressive.

Rose has been awesome; Gordon and Westbrook won them the game against Lithuania, and Rose and Curry huge in the game against Spain. I love Rondo, but he’s been the least productive and brings the least to the table in regards to international play — he can’t shoot. Rondo is the odd-man out, IMO.

Curry looked great running the point against Spain, Rondo was DNP’d.

Gordon would make Westbrook and Curry both look silly. You have yet to see what Eric Gordon is capable of on a GOOD team.
