Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown 2014 (PHOTOS)

By now you know all about the NBA Dunk Contest on Saturday night, won by the East team and Dunker of the Night, John Wall. But a day earlier, at the Jam Session inside the New Orleans Convention Center, the best amateur dunkers from around the nation put on a show that rivaled even the best dunks from 24 hours later at the 2014 Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown. With $10,000 on the line, dunkers busted out some insane dunks, like a 360 between the legs dunk by Mike Purdie, Kasper’s 540 and a dunk that looked very similar to Wall’s winning jam the next night by Canada’s J-Killz. In the finals, Kasper defeated Kenny “The Dunk Inventor” Dobbs for the $10K prize. SLAM editor Abe Schwadron joined rapper Mack Wilds and NBA legend Darryl Dawkins as judges for the event. Check out a selection of photos from the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown above. To see more, including a video recap, follow the dunk tour’s page on Facebook here.
