Gallery: Allen Iverson x SLAM

A retrospective of AI’s history with this magazine.

Allen Iverson is on the front of our newest issue, but it’s far from his first appearance on this mag’s cover. Click through below to see each and every cover AI’s been featured on, along with some memorable portraits we’ve shot of The Answer during those shoots. And if you haven’t yet, be sure to pick up SLAM 150, which is on newsstands now.

The love AI has for SLAM was apparent in the interview he did in the latest issue.
While other publications really know how to tick off athletes (think MJ and SI), SLAM almost always has nothing but love for players (exception -Reggie Miller).

That doesn’t look like a happy AI in the Detroit jersey. I had a bad feeling when he went there. All downhill since then. The total wrong system for him. I really hope somebody picks him up. Boston maybe???

AI at Georgetown was the man!
I miss the old slam magazines from the early/mid 90′s
My library in Wellington, New Zealand even had copies of them – people always ripped out slam of da month tho.

Miami is pretty near the salary cap with players + they need a good point guard to play along side with sg Wade, sf Lebron and pf Bosh + Iverson doesn’t care about money, he could play with 5 cents as long as he can be in the NBA…so f*ck it, what has Miami got to lose, they should sign AI.

A small sample of what the 2013-14 nba could be like if the nba stops blackballing #AllenIverson youtu.be/8SsSdN9rkTw

Two other good fits would be Atlanta and Chicago. Atlanta is short on guards and wings scorers and Chicago needs a backup guard and scoring as well. Retirements are not final especially in this situation when Iverson is being forced into retirement due to a lack of interest.

It`s pathetic on the nba`s part that no nba team has offered him a contract or a training camp in 3 years of him trying to return to the league. Iverson is doing the right thing and retiring.
