Win Shoes For A Year!

Foot Locker is taking a share of the Madness this March.

by Chris O’Leary/@olearychris

The headline should have you already. I’m writing this fully expecting very few of you, if any at all, to make it to the end of this.

Here’s the vitals:

Footlocker.com has launched a March Madness-style bracket on its site. On one side of the tourney is the Old School. Screaming for props and respect on the opposite side are the young guns in the New School. Register on the site, get your vote on (unless you’re from outside the US — sorry, non-Americans), work your way through each round every week for the next and if you’re selected as the winner, you get sneakers for a year.

The words, “Sneakers for a year” undoubtedly causes your eyes to go wide and drops your jaw down towards your feet, right? To be clear, the grand prize winner will get monthly gift cards from Foot Locker totaling $150 a month. So you can take that mental image out of your head of a 24-foot U-Haul making monthly trips to your favorite Foot Locker location. That’s just foolish. But $150 worth of sneaks every month for a year? That’s pretty nice.

There are also winners for each round of the tournament. Round 1 ends March 16. Round 2 ends on March 23, Round 3 wraps up on March 30 and Round 4 comes to a close on April 5.

You can vote once daily online and/or by text on your phone by sending your choices to LOCKER (562537).

Check the site out for all the info and good luck.

  • I’m Not Eboy

I’m not Eboy, but what happens to my shoes after one year?

  • http://www.Twitter/notebooknick NotebookNick

So incredibly lame that this doesn’t apply to us outside of the US.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

    Wow, that’s misleading lol.
I too, am not Eboy, just to clarify haha.

I am neither an American nor Eboy. But my country has great healthcare, and doesn’t have to hide behind gimmicks such as this.

  • nastierthanu

I just want to be eboy dammit. Now if they were starbury’s that would be 10 shoes a month. Bring back the truck

Chris O’Leary aren’t you up north too?

  • Pic

Hey Chris, I was emailed by a SLAM intern that I won the Junk Food Tee contest last February but I haven’t received by prize. Any news on that?

  • http://slamonline.com Chris O’Leary

I’m up north too, niQ, so no contest for me either. @Pic, sit tight. Sometimes getting the prizes out to contest winners takes longer than any of us would like.

  • Twinparadox

I’m halfway across the world…so this sucks.
Globalization should have kicked in by now, shouldn’t it!?!
Sucks not being American sometimes (sucks not being Eboy, too)

For me, the only time it really bites to not be in the USA is when I go to the ‘lolly store’ here and a can of Dr Pepper costs me $2.70. That…and when I wish I could eat at In&Out Burger… oh the joy.

    cool, thanks Chris

  • BostonBaller

Cool contest. Why is it that no matter the topic there is some sort of hate. lol. I’m sure there are contests in other countries that the US can not be down with… I’m so old school that I’ve only purchased maybe two pair of sleds since winning a pair of Pony’s from SLAM in one of their first sneaker contests. lol. I need a new pair bad, especially since I coach. hahahaha

    Have a great day folks.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy
