SLAM Radio

The greatest basketball radio show of all time returns to the air.

by Lang Whitaker

We tried this last week, but we had to push pause because the studio wasn’t finished being remodeled. But that’s finished now, and SLAM Radio is set to return to the air tomorrow night. We’ll be on live, from 8:00 until 10:00 p.m. EST, and you can listen in live only at eastvillageradio.com. Of course, we’ll have it available the next day as a podcast, too, so you’ll be able to listen in at your leisure.

And if you have any requests — from music to topics for us to cover — post them in the comments section below. We’ll do our best to tackle everything you throw at us.

    Any outkast will do…

    1. Will Chicago’s 10-deep roster contend this season?

    2. Is there a way that AI and KG (the two most deserving guys to get a title) could be together next season?

    3. Can the Truth and the Answer coexist?

  • Clyde Smith

    Ghost-faaaaaace. Ghost-faaaaaace!

  • Clyde Smith

Oh, also: could a KG for AI trade work?

The world NEEDS another Sam’ron freestyle. Stop frontin’ kid and come spit that fire!!!!

  • Tunez

any and all 1990′s NEW YORK HIP HOP!!!!

And comment on how or what the raptors are going to do this season, cause even as a die hard fan, I have no idea where this team is going or how they will finish…

  • jj

Oh I was forgetting… make a wild guess on what Chicago’s highest score of the season might be! (45? 50?)

Thoughts on the new Chappelle’s Show sketches? And their discussion about it last Sunday.

Or have another big time interview.. like Dikembe, that way he’ll battle Mike James for “hardest interview to know what they’re saying”. That’d be huge.

more mike james! who? mike james!

  • Howard N.

y’all need to blast some Mike Jones “back then” but replace “Jones” with “James”.

  • Phil C.

Do a segment where you air songs by current and past NBA players, for example, I remember years ago seeing a commercial for a Jamal Mashburn album. Take a vote to find the best and worst rapper in the L. My frontrunner is Ron Artest, with AI a close second. Remember when he pissed off gay and lesbian groups a few years back??

    Sam’ron… Sam’ron… Sam’ron

Also, I need to hear DJ Toney Blare explain why our president uses bad words. You know, since he was sitting right there…

Speaking of which, with his TX roots, do you think George Bush is a Mavs fan? ‘Cause I don’t think Mark Cuban is a Bush fan. We need to get THOSE two on SLAM Radio. Let’s make it happen…

That’s a lot of pressure. I’m probably the best rapper from NY right now – by default of course, and I never rap.

  • http://slamonline.com Sam Rubenstein

And by pressure it means I guess I’ve got to bring the one to bring the city back.

Is this song about Rabbit or Sam?

His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti
He’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
to drops bombs, but he keeps on forgetting
what he wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud
He opens his mouth but the words won’t come out
He’s chokin, how? Everybody’s jokin now
The clock’s run out, time’s up, over – BLAOW!

  • Pic

oh snap, sam’s bringin it tonight???

  • Jake Appleman

Come on Sam, just rhyme cashmere with Kazmir. Or just do an entire baseball freestyle called “Kazmir thoughts”.

  • Pic

sam needs to battle mike james & put him in his place. nas & jay 3000.

  • j.2.da.LO

  • PIMPN

how bout some DJ SCREW. possibly some old S.U.C. freestyle

  • matt the utah fan

back to the subjects for tonight – any chance of the jazz making the playoffs? a) if they move boozer (and for who)? b) if they don ‘t?

  • Vyse

“I’m probably the best rapper from NY right now – by default of course…”

    Skyzoo, Saigon…

  • Tyson

My only suggestion is to post the playlist the day after the show, since sometimes it takes Tone’ a little while to post the most recent one.

Since i know DJ Blare’s a futbol fan, why not discuss the Zenidine Zidane incident for one of the radio topics? (even though everyone has pretty much said all there is to say about it.)

Looking forward to Killa Sam’s latest…..

Talk about how the sixers should trade AI & Webber to boston for telfair, g.green, jefferson, wally, ratliff, scalabrini & some 1st round picks. I know ratliff & scalabrini suck & wally is overpaid but ratliff only has 2 years on his contract and wally can be traded for an expiring contract.

  • Mighty
