Pittsburgh guard Ashton Gibbs will return for his senior season at the University of Pittsburgh and will not enter the NBA Draft.
Gibbs, a 6-2 point guard from Scotch Plains, N.J., led the Pitt Panthers in scoring last season with 16.8 points a game and to a regular season title in arguably the most competitive league in college hoops, the Big East.
Gibbs has outstanding shooting ability and a work ethic that will serve his Pitt squad well in his senior year. With a Pitt team that just lost three major senior starters—7-0 defensive standout Gary McGhee, the high-flying Gilbert Brown and shooting guard/stat sheet filler Brad Wannamaker—Gibbs will need to evolve his game from big-time scorer to facilitator under Jamie Dixon’s Pitt Panthers.
