Lawrence Frank fed Detroit Pistons fans and media the usual coach-speak crap at his introductory press conference, and placed a special emphasis on defense for his new squad. From the Free Press: “On his coaching philosophy: ‘We’re going to be a defense-first team, a rebounding team, an attacking team, a low-turnover, high-assist team. … You have to compete at both ends, but we’ll be defense-first. … It’s a collective effort, mind-set and trust through good and bad.’ On his relationship with his new players and vice versa: ‘It has to be a clean slate. Your scrapbooks are irrelevant.'”
