Why, of course they are: “A mascot isn’t something you can find at a costume store,” Byrnes said. “You can not create a mascot in a very thoughtful way, in addition to everything else we had to do with the franchise overnight. We intentionally postponed the mascot in order to do it right. It takes a lot of planning to create the personality and identity of the organization 365 days out of the year, a character iconic to the marketplace that will attend schools, athletic events and ribbon cuttings. Once fans see the finished product, we hope they feel it was worth the wait.”
