The Boston Celtics announced on Thursday evening that one of their players had tested positive for COVID-19.
Shortly thereafter, Celtics guard Marcus Smart confirmed via Twitter that he was that player with the positive test:
In a follow-up tweet, Smart encouraged people to stay safe through self-distancing.
Smart is at least the 11th NBA player to have a positive test for COVID-19, after the Los Angeles Lakers confirmed two of their players earlier in the day on Thursday.
The NBA has been on hiatus since last Wednesday, March 11. Play was suspended after Rudy Gobert was the first player to be publicly confirmed with a positive coronavirus test.
