Andre Iguodala Denies Being a ‘Mole’ for Warriors While Playing in Denver

Andre Iguodala’s exit from the Denver Nuggets was interesting, to say the least. During his return to the Mile High City on Monday night, Iguodala flatly denied accusations of having been a mole for the Golden State Warriors last season. Per the Denver Post:

Asked if he was, in fact, denying he provided Golden State coach Mark Jackson with any information about how the Nuggets were planning to defend Warriors star player Stephen Curry and any dissatisfaction he might have had with that plan, Iguodala said, “Definitely.”

Asked what his response was to the accusation, which was made by former Nuggets coach George Karl in a report on BlitzKrieg13.com, Iguodala didn’t hesitate.

“It’s kind of out of sight out of mind,” Iguodala said. “I’m in a different place now. I’m really focused on our team. I’m really kind of lost about it; I’m not sure what it means. I felt I played really well in the playoffs last year. I kind of just focused on what we’ve got going on and not trying to let anything else outside of my situation alter our goals.

“Was I surprised? Not really. We’re kind of in this new media age where there’s all types of information floating around. You never know what you’re going to hear. So you can’t be surprised by anything.”

The Nuggets wanted to re-sign Iguodala, who opted out of the final year of his contract and became an unrestricted free agent after last season. The Nuggets’ final offer to him was a five-year, $60 million contract ($52 million guaranteed). He signed with Golden State for four years and $48 million.

Asked why he took less to head to the Bay Area, Iguodala said, “I didn’t see as more (money). It may be more from the team (perspective), but I didn’t see it as more from here because it was unguaranteed. When you say unguaranteed it may sound bigger, but it’s not really bigger. Kind of like football. So, sitting down with my people we saw a different thing than that.”
