Hailed as the next great guard to come out of Coney Island’s famed Lincoln High School, the same program that produced Stephon Marbury, Sebastian Telfair and Lance Stephenson (and Jesus Shuttlesworth), 6-4 senior combo guard Isaiah Whitehead has had an array of top DI schools courting him. Expected to be NYC’s first McDonald’s All-American since Jayvaughn Pinkston in 2010, the sharpshooter had narrowed down his list of suitors to St. John’s, Seton Hall, Minnesota, Indiana and Pittsburgh. Unexpectedly, Whitehead announced Tuesday that he’d be making his college choice today at a press conference in the school’s gymnasium. When all was said and done, Whitehead decided to stay local and made his commitment to Seton Hall Pirates. Whitehead made his unofficial visit to the school September 14. Lincoln head coach Dwayne “Tiny” Morton is expected to join Seton Hall’s staff as an assistant coach next season, according to the NY Post.
