Chandler Parsons to Play for Mavs After Rockets Decline to Match 3-Year, $46 Million Offer Sheet

by July 13, 2014

The Houston Rockets have decided restricted free agent swingman Chandler Parsons is not worth the three-year, $46 million offer sheet the Dallas Mavericks signed him to, and so they’ll be letting Parsons walk and become a member of Marc Cuban’s Mavs for the next few seasons. Per ESPN:

The Houston Rockets have decided not to match the Mavericks’ three-year, $46 million offer sheet for Chandler Parsons, which means the versatile forward will join Dirk Nowitzki in Dallas.

Parsons told he received the call from the Rockets just prior to 6 p.m. ET on Sunday informing him that they would not be matching the offer.

[…] Sources told’s Marc Stein that the teams have already begun to engage in sign-and-trade talks that could potentially create a trade exception for Houston, but Parsons is going to Dallas either way.

The 25-year-old Parsons averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists this past season — his third with the Rockets.
