Charlotte Bobcats Reportedly Interested in Signing Kris Humphries

by July 10, 2012

If Kris Humphries gets moved as part of the proposed monster trade for Dwight Howard, the Charlotte Bobcats would be interested in signing him to a one-year deal (which, it should be noted, Humphries’ agent is strongly against.) Reports the Observer: “An NBA source confirms the Bobcats would be interested in Humphries, but only if he signs a one-season contract, rather than the multi-year deal he reportedly prefers. The Magic, Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers are involved in complex talks that would involve multiple players and draft picks. Various reports have the Cavaliers accepting Humphries, in return for a future first-round pick from the Nets, in order to make a deal work under the salary cap. The Bobcats could take Humphries, but only if he’s playing under a short-term deal, the source confirmed. Humphries, 27, averaged 13.8 points, 11.1 rebounds and shot 48 percent from the field last season. He’s an unrestricted free agent but can make more per season re-signing with the Nets, even in a sign-and-trade, than signing outright with another team.”
