Delonte West Broke His Wrist

Delonte broke the wrist on his non-shooting hand during the Celtics‘ home win last night, and the clubs says it has no plans to sign anyone to replace him in the lineup. From the Boston Globe: “The Celtics are again dealing with injuries after guard Delonte West fell and landed on his right wrist after completing a layup with 2:48 left the second quarter of the Celtics’ game against New Jersey. X-rays revealed a broken wrist and he is out indefinitely. ‘It’s broken for sure,’ coach Doc Rivers said. ‘Don’t know anything else more than that; a compound fracture most likely. But that’s going to be a long time, let’s just put it that way.’ West appeared to be fouled by Travis Outlaw and was knocked off balance after soaring to the basket. He stayed on the floor for several moments and was led to the locker room by head trainer Ed Lacerte and team doctor Brian McKeon. West was not available for comment after the game but it is believed that he could be ready for the playoffs. The break is in his non-shooting hand. ‘I know he was hurt because I know Delonte just from being around him and the kind of person he is,’ Paul Pierce said. ‘He’s sort of a guy that if he’s injured, you are going to know when he’s injured because he’s going to get right back up usually most…99% of the time, so when he laid there and I saw the look on his face I knew it was bad.'”
