George Karl Believes Carmelo Anthony Won’t Get Traded

Karl is growing ever more confident that ‘Melo will play out the rest of the season in Denver (though Anthony isn’t quite ready to commit to that just yet.) From the Post: “The Nuggets coach wondered aloud at the beginning of the season why Carmelo Anthony couldn’t just stay. Hot-and-heavy trade talks put a damper on that. But now Karl’s back, bigger and badder and more defiant. Anthony is still a Nugget, and with the largest, most daunting hurdle — the New Jersey trade — out of the way, he’s ready to play the maybe- Melo-will-just-stay card again. ‘I have always felt from the very beginning of the season that the chance of it not happening was greater than all of you all thought,’ Karl said. ‘I just felt that way from the first day of training camp in September. I’ve always felt that way.’ Anthony wasn’t so emphatic. But he did give arguably his strongest words yet that the Nuggets still may have a shot in this thing. ‘I consider Denver home too,’ Anthony said. ‘I’ve been there eight years. I didn’t even spend eight years in Baltimore. So whether it’s winning a championship in Denver … or time for me to move on, I’m with that.'”
