Kenny Dobbs of Phoenix, AZ won the 2008 Los Angeles Dunkman competition at the Venice Beach basketball courts and earned a spot in the national finals, which will be contested this June in Phoenix, Arizona. Dobbs, as well as each of the other contestants in the national final will be competing for a $10,000 cash prize and their own Dunkman ad in Slam Magazine.
With guest judges Tracy Murray and West Coast Custom’s owner Ryan Friedlinghaus evaluating each dunk, Dobbs wowed the large beach crowd gathered on a perfect 82-degree Southern California day at Venice Beach. Dobbs recorded an exceptional 45” vertical leap, and scored the only perfect 60-point score in the freestyle dunk completion to date. His combined total of 105 points was the best of all the competitions to date.
