Kevin Love Says He’s 4-6 Weeks Away from Return to Action

by September 14, 2015

Cleveland Cavaliers star forward Kevin Love was a guest on “Late Night with Seth Myers” Friday, and reported that he’s on track to be in the lineup come Opening Night.

Love underwent left shoulder surgery on April 30 and was said to be out for 4-6 months.

The 27-year-old three-time NBA All-Star also gave updates on his free agency and a recent magazine cover shoot for which he was buck naked.

Per Fear the Sword:

“I feel great,” Love told Seth Myers. “I actually spent three weeks in Park City, Utah at the Olympic training facility there, rehabbed my shoulder, got in great shape and I feel great. I’m probably about a month, month and a half away. I don’t want to set an immediate deadline now, but I really feel good.”

This is mostly good news. If it does take a month and half, that would put him exactly on line to be ready for the season opener on October 27. The Cavs shouldn’t rush him, of course, but they might be tempted to if Kyrie Irving’s situation lingers. I’d be curious to know if Kevin is able to shoot, or when he can get back to work on that. There might be some rust for Love to work off. Either way, it’s good to know that he feels good and thinks he is close to being ready.
