Lonny Baxter’s Role Model

by Lang Whitaker

Ever since hearing about Lonny Baxter (allegedly) popping those caps off in Washington D.C. the other day, I’ve had a nagging thought in the back of my mind that a different NBA player had done the same thing at some point, but I just couldn’t place it.

Then today it hit me…Rodney White! In the summer of 2004, the then-Nuggets guard was arrested after driving around Washington D.C. and firing a weapon out the window (allegedly). He eventually plead guilty to possession of an unregistered weapon and unregistered ammunition. unlike Baxter, he didn’t drive in front of the White House. Maybe next season Baxter will vomit on the court at MSG.
What is it about D.C. in the summertime that drives the NBA players crazy? Now the Wizards just need to sign Marion Barry (left) to handle community relations.
