Paul George: My Goal is to Win MVP

Pacers star Paul George appeared in just six games near the end of the 2014-15 season, after returning from that gruesome leg injury he suffered last summer. But he’s already setting lofty goals for himself in 2015-16. PG has been in Asia touring with Nike, and one of his stops included a visit to the “China Pacers,” a loyal group of Chinese fans who root for the Pacers, even 7,000 miles away. (You should really peep their YouTube page.)

While in China, George apparently told the fans that his goal is to win MVP.

From the Indy Star:

The China Pacers were rewarded for their loyalty with a visit from Paul George this week. George is in Beijing as an Ambassador for Nike and had the chance to speak to and pose in pictures with the China Pacers.

“After being draft into the NBA, I was playing from the bench and then tried to be a starter, then an All-Star. My goal now is set to be MVP. This year, that hasn’t changed,” George told fans at a Beijing Nike store. (Thanks, Google translation.)

George also spoke about the team’s new makeup, which includes the loss of Roy Hibbert and David West. With the veteran leadership of West now in San Antonio, George said he plans on stepping into a leadership role in 2015.

“As a team leader, you must learn to give more effort than others, the first to arrive every day to the arena, the last one to leave every day,” he said.
