Paul Pierce: ‘There’s Nothing Wrong With Me’

Though Celtics fans may disagree, Pierce insists that he’s doing just fine in the Cavs series. If Boston is to pull off the upset, even he has to know that he’ll need to do a lot more offensively. From the Boston Herald: “Paul Pierce’s struggles in the Eastern Conference semifinals have been so prolonged and pronounced that it’s natural to wonder if anything is ailing the Celtics [team stats] captain. But Pierce yesterday reported that he is healthy. ‘There’s nothing wrong with me,’ Pierce said. ‘The key for me is just being focused, being ready and giving my team what it needs to win.’ Pierce is averaging just 11.8 points on 32 percent field-goal shooting against the Cavs. Much of that can be attributed to the defense of LeBron James, who has used superior size, strength and quickness to neutralize Pierce. James’ influence on the other end has played an equal role in disrupting Pierce’s game. ‘I’ve been troubled by foul trouble,’ Pierce said. ‘It’s been really kind of throwing me off. I’ve been getting two quick fouls pretty much every game in the first quarter, so hopefully I can clean that up and I can be more consistent.”’
