After falling to the Lakers in Game 4 of the 2020 NBA Finals, the Heat once again have their backs against the wall. However, the team is optimistic that they can turn things back around.
Bam Adebayo, who was able to play in Game 4 after coming off of injury, reminisced on the Warriors blowing a 3-1 lead in the 2016 NBA Finals.
“Our backs are against the wall. It’s not like it’s never been done before. We still got hope. We’re still gonna fight until the end.”
It’s ironic because the last time a team came back from being down 3-1 to win the NBA Finals, it was LeBron James who was able to pull it off. It will be difficult for Miami to flip the script and do the same to him just a few years later.
Jimmy Butler, who is the undisputed leader of the Heat, talked postgame about their confidence and how it’s his job to make sure his team stays that way heading into a huge Game 5.
“Our confidence ain’t going nowhere. It’s gonna stay high. I’ve gotta make sure that it says high because it’s gonna have to be at an all-time high to get this next win…I’m excited to see how we bounce back. It’s our time to bounce back. I know we can do it.”
The two days off to rest between Game 4 and Game 5 is much needed for the Heat. With Adebayo confirming postgame that he wasn’t playing at full strength and with Goran Gragic still sidelined due to injury, the extra time off will be beneficial.
