It’s official: Donnie Walsh is leaving the Pacers

So, Donnie Walsh truly is leaving the Pacers after 22 years of decision-making. For much of that time he was among the best GMs in the NBA. Let’s not get too caught up in the bad times. The keys to the franchise now belong to Larry Legend.

In describing his experience with Walsh, Bird said, “I couldn’t have had a better teacher and coach. He’s a basketball genius and one of the best executives in the NBA. What I’ve learned from him, combined with my own experiences, will serve the franchise well going forward.”

I know the next logical step is to assume that Donnie is coming to NY to roll up his sleeves and clean up the Knicks.

“Indianapolis is a great place and it has been a great place for my family to live. We will continue to have our family home here, no matter what my future holds. As for my future, I will look at the options and when I’m clear as to what I will do, I will make a statement.”

If those options mean going to the highest bidder, I know what’s coming.
