Links: Vote!

Sorry I’ve been out of touch for the last week. We’ve been finishing up the newest issue of SLAM and I’ve had my hands full all week. Right now I’m waiting for an NBA player to call me so I can write the cover story tonight and then send it to the printer first thing in the morning. (I also spent all day yesterday waiting for the same NBA player to call me, but he didn’t. Hopefully he calls tonight. Either way, should be fun staying awake all night to write the story!)

Anyway, no matter how late I’m up tonight, I’m waking up early in the morning to go vote. I haven’t voted in an election since I moved to New York City, because I didn’t want to get jury duty. I always said that if an election came down to one vote, I’d feel bad about not voting (and then Gore/Bush basically did). Then I got jury duty anyway last year, so I figured I might as well vote now.

But there’s another reason I’m looking forward to voting this year: There’s a candidate running for President who I really believe in. So I want to vote tomorrow, and I’m going to even if I have to stand in line all day. I’ve been immersed in this election, reading everything I can get my eyes on, watching everything on both CNN and Fox. And I realized a long time ago that Senator Barack Obama is the candidate who most accurately reflects my views.

At some point, we’ll catch up on this debacle of an NBA trade today (Iverson for Billups?), but in the meantime, if you live in the United States and are a U.S. citizen, I want to encourage you to go out and vote, too. I don’t care which candidate you support, just let your voice be heard.

Kinda like these kids:
