The Golden State Warriors are making plans to get Stephen Curry back on the court. That will happen soon, but the exact timetable is still up in the air.
Curry will meet with head coach Steve Kerr, general manager Bob Myers and the Warriors training staff on Friday to make plans for his return to the court. Curry has been out since the season’s fourth game, when he broke his left hand in late-October.
Over the past few weeks, Curry has ramped up basketball activities. He was recently cleared for a full return to practice, which laid a path for his return to the court. According to multiple sources, that return was pegged for Sunday, March 1st against the Washington Wizards.
Kerr tamped down that excitement a bit, as he said on Wednesday that he’d like to see Curry get in a few more scrimmages before seeing game action. Friday’s practice and the subsequent meeting will seemingly now set that return-date, with Sunday still a possibility.
Amid his recovery, many have suggested that Curry stay out for the remainder of the season. The Warriors are an NBA-worst 12-47 and recently ruled Klay Thompson out for the year. However, Curry and the team have both said that as soon as he’s ready, the star guard would play. Because he’s coming off a broken hand, there is little worry of re-injury at this point in his recovery.
