Utah’s Donovan Mitchell Opens Up About Ankle Injury While Facing Elimination

Throughout the entire 2021 NBA Playoffs, Donovan Mitchell has been spectacular. However, his right ankle continues to be a topic of conversation as he plays more games.

Mitchell missed the final 16 regular-season games and the Jazz’s playoff opener with this ankle sprain he suffered in mid-April.

In Game 5, Mitchell was clearly bothered by it, having his worst game of this playoff stretch by far.

Mitchell spoke to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon after Utah’s crushing Game 5 loss, saying the ankle injury is just something he’s going to have to deal with.

“It’s something I’m going to have to deal with. I mean, it f—ing sucks. I ain’t got nothing else to say. Like, it’s tough when you’re trying different things that you normally do and you see spots you can get to, but you can’t, so you got to find a way to make it happen.”

On the brink of elimination, Mitchell will need to do everything in his power to get the Jazz back on track. They’re currently down 3-2 to the LA Clippers with Game 6 set to take place Friday night.
