Dr. J’s 12th Grade Son, Jules, Is Drawing Some Interest

Jules Erving has some hops, too.

Julius Erving’s NBA career went down in history for his impressive hops and ability to play above the rim. The Hall of Famer’s son, Jules, is now currently a senior at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Atlanta. And while the 6-6 teen hasn’t garnered the same ridiculous and unfair hype that some of the sons of other former NBA players have, he has shown some hops and has even drawn interest from collegiate programs like Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Kennesaw and Georgia State.

And yes, he’s obviously interested in playing D1 basketball and in making the NBA (which teenage hooper isn’t?), but he isn’t necessarily putting any pressure on himself. Erving, who is reportedly averaging 15 points and nine rebounds per game this season, recently told USA Today:

“If it’s not D-I, I don’t think I’d do it,” Erving said. “I’d probably just focus on my books. That’s the biggest thing for me right now.”

“I have a 3.5 GPA and I’m trying to get it higher. I want to go into business with my dad. I’m not sure in what way just yet, but we’ve been talking about some things. With basketball, I’m giving it my best shot and I’m just going to see what happens. Either way, I’ll be happy.”
