The Houston Rockets completed their biggest comeback of the season, climbing out of a 17-point hole Wednesday night in New Orleans to take down the Pelicans 95-93.

James Harden scored 25 points, none more spectacular than the two in the clip above, and Dwight Howard rejoined the fray after having sat out 26 games with edema in his right knee.

Despite scoring 24 points, Anthony Davis was upset with his performance, particularly from the charity stripe (AD went 6-of-14 at the free-throw line in the Pelicans’ fourth consecutive loss.) So he decided to do something about it.

Per the Times-Picayune and Houston Chronicle:

Still dressed in his uniform, Anthony Davis went back on the court after Wednesday night’s game against the Houston Rockets when most of his teammates had already showered and left the Smoothie King Center.

So he went back out to practice. He put up enough free-throw shots until he made a 100 before heading to the locker room to shower. There were no Pelicans coaches around, just one of the Pelicans’ attendants retrieving the ball after Davis put up his shots. […] “I missed eight free throws,” Davis said. “I don’t feel comfortable missing eight free throws, especially when we lost by two. I make eight free throws, we win by six. I just don’t like it missing free throws like that. We needed them and I missed them.”

Howard scored the Rockets’ first points on a dunk. But he stayed in for just four minutes in the first quarter before becoming visibly winded and taking a seat. Howard played 16-plus minutes in the game – the first few minutes of each quarter plus the final 1.7 seconds. He finished with four points and seven rebounds. […] “My whole point was to do whatever I can to help this team win and play as hard as I can for as long as I can,” Howard said. “It just felt good being back out on the floor.”
