LeBron James, Pat Riley to Join Shane Battier in Singing Karaoke

If any NBA player were to host a karaoke night, it would likely be Shane Battier. The Miami Heat forward has somehow convinced co-workers LeBron James and Pat Riley to join in the off-key singing. Per the Palm Beach Post: “The inspiration? ‘A few adult beverages, at a karaoke bar in Houston,’ Shane Battier said. That’s when ‘Battioke’ was born. ‘We are always looking for creative ways to have fundraisers,’ Battier said. “Everyone does a golf tournament. Everyone does a dinner. My wife and I do enjoy karaoke. We’re not very good. It’s a chance for guys to let their hair down.’ Battier hosted the event in Houston, two years ago, and was scheduled to hold the encore two weeks after the 2010-11 trade deadline. Then he was traded to Memphis. ‘We had to shoot it down,’ Battier said. So he’ll take another shot Tuesday at the Eden Roc on South Beach. LeBron James, Pat Riley, Juwan Howard, James Jones and Willis McGahee have already committed to sing. Chrissy Teigen, the Sports Illustrated cover model, will be a judge, as will Desmond Howard. Proceeds will go to Battier’s Take Charge Foundation, which is working toward providing college scholarships.”
