Oh my goodness.
Earlier today, in the New York Class AA Championship, Khalil Edney of New Rochelle High School hit a miraculous shot to defeat powerhouse Mount Vernon 61-60, in turn securing a trip to the state regional semifinal. The play went something like this: Down 1 with 2.9 seconds left, New Rochelle’s inbound pass was swatted down by a Mount Vernon defender, only the ball fell into Edney’s hands. The senior forward then simultanesouly gathered himself and launched a three-quarter-court shot that—in hard-to-believe fashion—somehow went in. Check out the unbelievable sequence (a closer, second-by-second clip appears at 2:35), and subsequent reactions from both teams, above.
