Win Baron Davis’ Latest Kicks

Counter Kicks and SLAM are hooking you up with a shot at some Li-Ning sneakers.

by Chris O’Leary/@olearychrisBaron Davis Li-Ning giveaway

Baron Davis made waves in the fall of 2008 when he left Reebok to sign with Li-Ning. The Chinese-based sneaker and apparel company is set to release Davis’ second signature shoe on February 15. Li-Ning’s BD Doom will release in five different colorways and will be the shoe’s first US-based online launch.

Briefly, the colorways follow as,

White/Red (Home)
Black/Red (Away)
Blue (Snakeskin)
Red (Snakeskin)
White/Blue/Yellow (UCLA)].

Over the coming weeks, with the help of Li-Ning and Baron Davis, Counter Kicks wants to set some lucky readers up with these shoes. In the weeks leading up to the February 15 launch date, Counter Kicks will be giving pairs away. Here’s what you have to do:

Step 1) Follow @SLAMonline & @CounterKicks on Twitter.

Step 2) Tweet the following: Just entered to win brand new @Baron_Davis Li-Ning BD Doom shoes from @CounterKicks & @SLAMonline via http://tinyurl.com/BDDOOM – RT to win.

Step 3) On Tuesday, January 26 and Wednesday, January 27, one winner for each day will be selected at random and announced on the @CounterKicks Twitter account.

Step 4) Reply back within 15 MINUTES if you see your name selected to get hooked up with Baron Davis’ new kicks. Alternate winner will be selected after the 15-minute time limit if there’s no response.

Step 5) Keep following @SLAMonline and @CounterKicks for the next contest launch.

Easy as that. Take advantage of this chance to get what have been up to this point some tough kicks to find in North America.

Update, Jan. 26: Winner No. 1 is Sean Yellen from Los Angeles, CA. He went the demographically accurate route and took the white/red home colorway Dooms.

Update, Jan. 27: Our 2nd SLAM x Counter Kicks x Li-Ning winner is Brett Gottlieb. He wins the Black colorway Dooms. Congrats!

Logues – because it’s an easy way to market to people. Getting people following on twitter is free advertising through a free medium. Duh!

@Logues The contests aren’t all on Twitter. Keep in mind this is a MULTI-WEEK sneaker giveaway. If you’re on Twitter, great. If not, we’re spreading this out to various platforms to get people hooked up. It’s not as much about “Twitter” per-se, but more about the social media aspect for these contests. We just want to get as many people involved as possible and do it in a fun, creative way. Thanks….

I didn’t like the move he made bout leaving Reebok, but I see that reebok wasn’t really pushing none of their athletes. Li-Ning did some creative work on his signature.

Thanks for the clarification, John B. I don’t use Twitter, so I’m hoping for other opportunities to win.

    how much they cost?

  • chintao

Actually, here in China, Li Ning is only a little bit cheaper than Nike/Adidas/Reebok. Glad to see the design team put in some thought. Now, if the Company would just drop that heap of dead-weight called Shaq….

@nuff The 5 BD Doom colorways seen in the photo above all retail for $99.99

Who was the design team on these shoes? My guess would be Helen Keller, Stevie Wonder, and Ray Charles.

Why do the heels of these shoes have testicles?

Love the logo though. It must be in BD’s contract not to shave though.

^^ Read the full design story behind the shoes here: http://counterkicks.com/2010/01/21/counterkicks-interviews-the-man-behind-the-beard-eric-miller-li-ning-designer-part-1-of-2/

Tells you all the performance details on the BD Doom and goes into the backstory on the Beardman logo too – all straight from the Designer.
