Video: Jim Nantz Interviews John Stockton In a Jacuzzi

An awkward interview, circa 1985.

Here’s a scene you’ll likely never see again—in 1985, a young, intrepid Jim Nantz interviewed members of the Utah Jazz before Game 5 of a first-round matchup with the Houston Rockets. And the interview took place in, yes, a jacuzzi. John Stockton, Rich Kelley, Bobby Hansen and Pace Mannion talk with the then-KSL sports anchor while soaking in some suds and sporting legendary moustaches. In short, the footage is amazing, for a variety of reasons.

    I’m half expecting a Pontiac Trans Am to just pull a sideways broadie through the grass in the background and then we cut back to the hot tub and the boys just finish drinking a can of Busch Lite each and they smack them against their fore-heads and high five and then the Night Rider Theme comes on and the scene fades…
