SLAM’s Top 10 Dunks of ’12-13 (VIDEO)

A look back at the season’s best.

Last week, we gathered what we considered the best dunks of the past season and came up with 10 that were better than the rest. After the voting concluded, our homie and master mixmaker, Meir21 made us a dope compilation to bring to the masses. The obvious ones are in there along with a few that you might have missed (*cough, Byron Mullens, cough*). Agree with our selections? Probably not, so let us know what you think below.

amazing! gone are the days when we had click through 10 pages for 10 dunks.

  • KevinJohnsonFan

We all knew what number 1 would and should be.

  • http://SLAMonline.com/ Ryne Nelson

Yes. Big thanks to Hoops4Life homies.

  • Max

Don’t get to excited, a dude from youtube made this for SLAM.
    But hey, progress is progress.

  • analfissures

I love the list, but Kobe’s dunk at #7 should be higher. For as old as he is and how daring that dunk was…..straight FILTH.

  • GSW Fan

barnes is the only player on their twice. lets get him in the contest

  • spit hot fiyah

you are right, the ! was unnecessary

  • bike

No offense to Kevin Durant, but he just doesn’t do it for me as a dunker. He’s just so long, he only has to elevate about 6 inches to dunk.

  • meir21

    Thanks for the opportunity.

  • LLC#12

in game dunking doesn’t translate to contest dunking though. Both his dunks on this list are sick though

  • ATL dynamite

This is a very fair list. A sincere thanks. God job done here

Jeff Greens dunk on Jefferson is easily top 5 of the year. The Crawford/Blake connection was a nice alley oop, but the dunk was weak. The 2 hander Barnes threw down yesterday was better than the dunk at #6.

Jeff Green on Al Jefferson, Smith on Lopez honorable mention? No way. Those two dunks are way better than the Byron Mullens one.

  • Max

Because Deandre Jordan has to jump so much higher right?

  • http://SLAMonline.com/ Ryne Nelson

Green’s dunk was during the preseason.

  • Blarmac

No. 3- How come Barnes didn’t get T’d up for the stare-down like ‘Bron did on Terry?

  • bike

Deandre doesn’t really cut it for me either. At some point, height becomes too much of an advantage when it comes to dunking.

  • http://twitter.com/_DFrance DFrance

Unless they play preseason games in mid November, that would be false.

  • http://twitter.com/_DFrance DFrance

To each his own, but Durant and Jordan both have hops. They’re not just relying on height when they dunk, they get above the rim.

  • http://twitter.com/_DFrance DFrance

He was a little more subtle because he did it while backing down the court. Lebron purposely walked to and stood over Terry to grill him.

  • DeeHaze24

Amazing to think Mullens even attempts three pointers. DJ’s was clear #1 but I still think his destruction of Jon Brockman from a year or two ago is nastier.

  • toomanyshrimp

T ross holding it down for the NW. Shoulda been in the top 10 with any of those 3 dunks

  • Dagger

That was pretty much perfect. Crowd reactions, announcers, good track, great clips, and a solid countdown (though I agree that Kobe at 7 could be a little higher). I hope this guy will be making more videos for you guys.

And yeah, it’s been a good year.

  • Dagger

Those clips from Ross to Gay to Carter gave me a little pride as a Raptors fan. Almost forgot what that felt like.

  • Dagger

He doesn’t have to jump higher, but he and pre-injury Howard DO jump higher, which is cool to see. Durant can just glide for dunks with those long arms. It’s not as visually impressive, but it is, of course, very effective.

  • http://SLAMonline.com/ Ryne Nelson

You’re right. I was thinking Gerald Green alley in preseason.

  • Reedo

I saw at least 3 honorable mentions that should’ve replaced KDs dunk I.E Gerald Henderson… or they should’ve done poor ol Brandon Knight some justice and put him on the list

  • PlanetAsia14

Am I the only one who thinks Gerald Henderson’s throw in dunk should be ranked top 10? I mean, that was nasty, dwight pushed him a little too.

  • Max

    I love KD’s facials.

  • Blarmac

Understandable considering the events/comments leading up to the game I guess.

  • JasonZ

Not one instance of the Nuggets in this video except for Mozgov getting dunked on? They led the league in oops and not even one dunk by them was put into this video? Give credit to teams that aren’t the Heat or Lakers for once.

  • doug

That Lebron dunk at number 2 is WAYYY overrated. Honestly, it’s not even a top 10 dunk of the season IMO.

  • http://twitter.com/ec_lkhaa Will Lee

shit Lebron on Terry was national geographic brutal

  • Dubz

DeRozan’s was one of the best facials and he gets 9? Come on, too much hype on dunks like griffin’s oop.

  • Kadavour

no. the other dunks were better.

  • Kadavour

    see Brown, Shannon

  • Kadavour

word. his hops aren’t really impressive compared to the other leapers in the league.

  • Kadavour

that was not a dunk. should not even be on the list. f outta here with that Dwight reference. that too was not a dunk.

  • Shifty

I thought MKG’s was the best and why wasn’t any of Jeff Green’s dunks included somewhere on top 10?

  • Darksaber

The VC resurgence in all areas of his game was one of the few Mavs highlights this season. Dependable performance, nearly no injuries. Half man, quite amazing 2012/2013.

  • KillaK

Once again DeMar gets robbed his dunk should be higher then 9…

Hes at least 5 on this list

  • nhm

thank you SLAM and meir21 for making 5:19 of time today very very entertaining

  • stokesey

i cant argue with this list… the 2 Harrison Barnes dudes were straight power! love it. Nice vid Meir21

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Actually, it was a dunk. And because it was on Dwight Howard and because of how high Gerald got in the air, it was pretty impressive.

  • Ugh

    At some point?
    Think before you type.

  • Ugh

Or the Griffin one, for that matter. A totally meh windmill.

  • http://twitter.com/stepfdelaghetto Stepfan Raiford

That can be argued, but I have never seen a threw the legs pass off glass alley opp in a regular season game. That one had to be on the countdown.

  • PlanetAsia14

Kadavour, you sour buddy? Hahaa, if people can say Blake Griffin on Mozgov was a dunk, then the Henderson one certainly is too.. And if you look closely enough you’ll notice that Dwight did do a subtle forearm push.. That’s all he does when people were trying to jump over him.. And you’re hearing this from a Lakers fan.

  • Ugh

The countdown for assists of the year, sure. Number one, maybe. But the dunk list is for dunks. The dunk was ordinary.

  • Drig

That Green dunk and Smith one on Lopez’s face should’ve made the list. Thought #10 and #5 were meh. Also think LBJ’s dunk should be brought down and Barnes’ dunk should be pushed up.
