Colangelo on Bosh’s Future

The Raptors GM knows he’s got a tough summer job ahead of him: “Colangelo left the door open when it came to the possibility of trading all-star forward Bosh, who will be a free agent in the summer of 2010 and so far has been vague about his long-term intentions. Colangelo said he plans to meet with Bosh and his agent, Henry Thomas, in the off-season and discuss a three-year extension to his contract. But Colangelo said it was unlikely that Bosh would commit to the Raptors. ‘Well, clearly, you want to hear him say, ‘I’m here long-term, don’t worry about me, I’m not going anywhere, let’s take that blood oath together.’ Colangelo said. ‘That’s not going to happen. I think Chris has pretty much made it clear that that’s not going to happen at any point in the near future.’ Colangelo said he was willing to deal. ‘If it’s there, and there’s an opportunity to gain that certainty and improve your basketball team, obviously, then you make a move,’ he said. ‘[But] there will not be a deal made just to make a deal. There will not be any sense of panic on the part of this organization to make a bad move just to make a deal.’”

    Admitting the obvious.

    Yes, Bosh for Dirk

  • http://allanzuss@yahoo.com Mendel

How dirty would it be if the Celts traded KG for Bosh

I called a Bosh for Dirk trade about a year ago.

    BC doesn’t sound too optimistic.

    Bosh for Rudy Gay

If you think Cubes is making that trade then you’re just crazy. Bosh is not THAT good. / About BG having less Americans on his team… I get it. A lot of NBA stars have b-tched about playing in Canada. We’ve heard it all : not getting ESPN, kids learning about Canadian history (knowledge is evil), people talking with an accent, not having their favorite burger joint, etc. A lot of Americans would rather be in Milwaukee or OK City than in a cosmopolitan city like Toronto. Euros and Africans on the other hand, don’t mind at all and understand that Toronto is the third biggest city in North America behing NYC and LA.

Chris bosh will probably be traded over this summer…even stephen a. smith said that bosh is unhappy in toronto. I mean which allstar ever is???? Vince carter, tracy mcgrady all wanted to be traded LMFAO….they should just take away torontos team and give it to Seattle or Give NY another team, i mean most of the people that go to raptors games don’t even no nothing about basketball all the fans are fake!!! All they know is hockey over there LMFAO!!!!

  • McNulty

MAV876 – have you ever been here? & where in the US do you live? Eat a di**. LMFAO!!!!

  • Flight

Stephan A Smith talks through his ass. Colangelo and Bosh both denied those rumors instantly. Toronto is doing fine for attendance, no need to move the team. As for Vince Carter and Tracy Mcgrady leaving, the team was very bad than, not that they are doing very well this year, but the potential to be a better team is there. I can see Bosh resigning, but not committing to this 3 year extension this soon.

If they were winning Bosh would probably consider staying. He’s not gonna resign there, thats pretty obvious, but I don’t see him demanding a trade in the offseason or anything. I can definitely see him in a Mavs uni, but I don’t think a rebuilding Raps team picking up Dirk makes any sense at all. Colangelo will probably be looking for picks and a young player or an expiring contract.

Brian Colangelo: TURN MY SWAG ON! Bosh 4 Okafor!

@MAV…get your head out of your ass and open a f*cking book, idiot.

  • http://nicekicks.com MeloMan13

Its obvious that MAV876 has any basketball knowledge whatsoever. I mean, he still thinks Steven A Smith is relevent…

  • Quail

the mavs wont give up dirk. theres no way. i could see bosh for okafor and a 2nd rounder. that would be fair. but if charlotte did that, they would have a hard time getting Allen Iverson.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

Guys, it’s not that simple. 1) No team can offer him a greater salary than Toronto. The CBA was designed that way. 2) Cubes is NOT trading Dirk for Bosh. What does that solve for the Mavs? Dirk is better than him. 3) Bosh wants to be the man. He was pinning himself for MVP at the start of the year.

  • finest hour

    @ MAV876
    completely agree.

  • finest hour

why would bosh demand a trade when he leaves in 2010 anyways.

  • finest hour

    BTW @ MAV876
    completely disagree*

  • Teddy-the-Bear

@ MeloMan13: Not a bad idea. Rudy Gay on the Raptors would make this team more fun to watch. I’m not sure if the salaries match, though.
Also, Colangelo needs to stop picking up Euroleage players, seriously.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

@ Flight: Umm, with Vince Carter the Raptors had their BEST EVER SEASON.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Not to mention they made the playoffs EVERY YEAR.
So no, they weren’t worse than they are now.

  • chintao

“There will not be any sense of panic….” Sounds like the panic has already set-in.

  • GOAT

Teddy, the Raptors best season ever was after we shipped Vince Carters busted knees (and ego) out of town for a couple scrubs named Williams and a bag of peanuts. If you remember correctly, the only Atlantic Division champion banner hanging in the rafters of the ACC is from two season ago (again, after Vince was gone). Granted he did lead us to the playoffs a couple times, but then quit on the team. And we were much worse than we are now. Jose is the first legit PG to run the show in a long time.

MAV fan, you are an ignorant idiot who knows NOTHING about Canada, basketball or the Raptors.

All this said, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Raps ship Bosh out for something in return (after getting NOTHING for T Mac, and next to nothing for VC….we actually had to pay Alonzo Mourning NOT to play for our team, cuz of that jerk).

Dirk isn’t the answer though, he’s too similar to Bargnani. I would love to see Ben Gordon on T.O. Maybe a package of him and Luol or Tyrus Thomas for Bosh might work?

  • Jayemmbee

Bosh will sign at the end of next season to see where the team is at, if its crap he will entertain other teams but colangelo will step up and make a good off season move that will convince bosh to stay past 2010, besides i live in Toronto , this guy has is good, out baseball team sucks, well not really they just dont have money to spend, our hockey is garbage, rebuilding, so Bosh is the only legit superstar in town or in the country he has the country to himself, his face is plastered everywhere in toronto and the people are good to him, and last year was crap due to injuries, and any one thinks stephen a. smith is legit must also use wikipedia as a main source for an essay

I think that Colangelo will wait until he finds out the lottery results before committing to a trade.
C’monnnnn 1.7% chance at Blake Griffin!

    Bosh to Miami 2010

  • http://nicekicks.com MeloMan13

@ Teddy: salaries do match because the Grizzlies have something like 20 mil in cap space and Bosh’s contract is like 14 mil

  • http://www.slamonline.com Blinguo

Tell Bosh they’re dropping Marion and he’ll re-up that minute. Sweeten the deal by saying they’re in talks with Paul Silas/other better than avg. name coach.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Blinguo

After not paying Marion, use that cap space/money to get Avery Johnson and Paul Silas, plus more vets to fill holes and instantly grow the team up.
