Danny Granger wins MIP

by Ben Osborne

Indiana Pacers All-Star forward Danny Granger was announced as the NBA’s Most Improved Player award today, narrowly beating out the Nets’ Devin Harris.

A Fantasy beast who many statheads fell in love with in the ’07-08 season, Granger reached a new level of notoriety this season after becoming the first player in NBA history to raise his scoring average by more than five points for three straight seasons.

As the Indy Star put it, with an All-Star berth and this MIP honor accomplished, Granger’s new goal is to lead the Pacers to the Playoffs:

“We had so many opportunities to win so many games, and we came up a little bit short,” Granger said this morning. “Next year, with myself and the other leaders on the team, we have to find ways to win those games. That’s what I’d like to improve on the most.”

Now we’ve just got to run another feature on him in SLAM.

It took them this long to announce this???

  • Zabba

Kinda anti-climatic announcing the MIP weeks after the MVP.

I think it’s cause Danny was on vacation in Italy for like three weeks.

  • that dude

Couldn’t hold a press conference in Italy?

They don’t even have a playoff game to announce the award in… Where’d they do it? In a garage?

  • Clockwork

They shoulda had the ceremony in a restaurant with Danny in front of a big plate of pasta.

i see a playoff berth comming soon for the pacers. they have a crazy team, thats easy to fall in love with. (- Roy hibbert) he is easy to hate on.
@jack. your right, the nba has been kinda screwed up, and its all surfacing here in the playoffs.

  • Blue

Hilarious if he was in Italy. They can trade your ass while you’re in Italy, but can’t give you an award?!

  • Josh D

I swear they’d already given this

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ Moose

    Rajon Rondo.

  • http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.cinepatas.com/forum/album_mod/upload/album_2_1046639711.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.cinepatas.com/forum/album_page.php%3Fpic_id%3D292%26mode%3Dnex Dacre

    ha..Moose bleeds green.
Nah Rajon hasn’t done that much in terms of improvement until he got to the playoffs…. If he keeps these stats up through the reg. season next year then look at the new ALL NBA 1st team PG.

  • Ted Dong

    Well deserved.

  • Ted Dong

Nah, Rajon was always pretty good, Moose. He’s just gradually became crazy nice.
Granger, he broke the heck out this season, if you know what I mean. I say, good for him!
Besides, Rondo already has enough going on with him, what with the playoffs. Let Granger shine, he’s been going through a tough season with a Pacers team that refuses to feed him the ball near the ends of games.

this must be one of the stupidest collection of comments i ever seen. also, did you see that some idiot voted for Dwyane Wade in this?? haha
