McMillan, Miller Don’t Like Each Other Much

If they did, an expletive-filled shouting match between the two wouldn’t have erupted at practice yesterday: “Trail Blazers practice on Thursday was halted nearly 60 minutes into the workout when veteran point guard Andre Miller and coach Nate McMillan engaged in a shouting match that lasted for nearly 30 minutes. Miller shouted throughout the exchange, and McMillan mostly listened, but at times broke in with shouting of his own. One of the topics discussed was an incident late in Tuesday’s game with Memphis, when Miller told Jerryd Bayless to make his second free throw with 4.3 seconds left and the Blazers trailing by two. The coaching staff and team captain Brandon Roy told Bayless to miss the free throw so the Blazers could attempt to rebound and make a tying basket.”

I’m not surprised Miller doesn’t like Mr. Sonic. I doubt he came over this summer expecting to back up Blake this long.

  • Jacqueline Mitchell

I’m surprised it took this long for them to get into it.

  • Coach Walt

Brandon Roy being a yes man…who was in there to rebound..nobody. Andre was right make the free throw foul, and even if they hit both, its still a one posession game with about 2 or 3 seconds on the clock…

I read the article and it sounds like McMillan wants complete control over everything on the court. I have watched Blazer games, Miller gives them an option they never had before with the point gurad being able to post up defenders and play good defense. Blazers management need to grow up use Miller the right way, its no way Blake starts above him. Roy needs to step up too, Who gets rebounds off of rebound attempts really, You never see rebounds off of miss free throws when you are down in a game with little time left, becaue the opposing coach has his best REBOUNDERS in the game McMillan, COME ON!!!

The Seed sounds like GOB Bluth.

Poor Jerryd caught in the middle!
Andre has to respect his coach’s decsion and just run with it. weither good or bad

I expected Miller, a guy who I admired, to be a better pro. with that said, the great B-Roy should have been less of an a$$ to him too. oh well, this season is f#cked up anyway…

  • Coach Walt

He got mad but the probably was the straw that broke the camel’s back. So all the tension came out on that particular situation…Andre should be starting, and he was right in my opinion…slim chance you are getting a rebound in that scenario..

basketball rule tactics 101: NEVER miss shots on purpose. You miss enough of them when TRYING to get them in.

I saw this coming soon. . When will Rip City return to the crazy days if the early 90′s?

  • rippppin

The Seed: So basically, everyone has to step up their game, including their best player and captain, so Miller can sit back and look good. Niiiiiice.

andre miller should have never signed with the blazers and the blazers should never have offered him a contract. i wonder what would have happened had david lee signed an offer sheet with the blazers to be the backup 4 at the money they threw at milsap/miller. does new york match? does lee even consider? some of the best moves are the ones you don’t make. blazers felt like they had to do something with that cap-room and now it’s just a mess.

There’s a slim chance of the superstar making the game-winning shot, yet so many teams decide to throw away the playbook on the most important possession of the game. Can’t understand why trying to get an offensive rebound off a free throw is so controversial.

I doubt that 30 minutes were wasted yelling about a missed/made free throw. Looks like some ambitious reporter held his ear to the door long enough to hear one coherent snippet between the expletives. I could be wrong, but I agree with all the straw/camel/back people in the thread.

You guys don’t watch basketball. I swear to god… ANDRE MILLER HAS BEEN STARTING FOR THE PAST FIVE GAMES!
    Watch games people!!!

Miller always seemed to be an ass anyway. I liked Nate as a player, respect him as a coach. He’s been to the top. Roy is an ass. Blazer brass are clowns and they showed themselves with the Darius Miles quagmire.

Watch them try to sue Miller for cussing out Nate! CLOWNS!
